    Sold/Expired Ver2 Deep M*g Reflector by Fivemega

Fivemega, I missed the boat on the P7 deep reflectors. Can you tell me what's the difference between this reflector and the one with the 16mm hole? Is it just the diameter of the hole that's greater or is the reflector "shorter" as well? Kind regards, Sami

    Direct Drive P7 M@g Experience

Knowing that I'm "knowledgeable" in flashlights, a colleague has asked me to help him choose one for his night time excursions while fishing. I'm trying to steer him towards a DD 2D or 3D M@g. Cost is a consideration, but so is robustness and run time. A driver circuit only adds one more...

Destructive Incan Bulb Tests - Updated 8/27/2010 (Newer Info Added)

Re: Destructive Incan Bulb Tests - Updated 5/22/09 (Newer Info Added) Is the reflectorised envelope opaque or slightly transparent? If it's opaque, wouldn't the beam shape be defined by the bulb envelope and not the reflector? Cheers! Sami

Destructive Incan Bulb Tests - Updated 8/27/2010 (Newer Info Added)

Re: Destructive Incan Bulb Tests - Updated 5/15/09 (Newer Info Added) Maybe it's already been discussed, but has anyone tried relating filament length and wire diameter to the lumens vs. volts relation? That is to say, bring it down to the basic physics. Of course filament material maybe a...

Maglite SSC P7. How to. A sort of guide.

There was a bit of a discussion on direct drive P7 Mags in this thread: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=227077 You might find something of interest. On a side note, It's the last character of the LED bin that you're looking for. If I'm not mistaken, J-bins are 3.5 to 3.75...

Destructive Incan Bulb Tests - Updated 8/27/2010 (Newer Info Added)

Re: Destructive Incan Bulb Tests - Updated 4/18/09 (New Info Added) I get it. You're going by reference values and from lux values, you calculate the lumens. Another question, I apologise if it's been already answered. Measuring an IRC-type axial filament bulb is simple enough, but what...

Destructive Incan Bulb Tests - Updated 8/27/2010 (Newer Info Added)

Re: Destructive Incan Bulb Tests - Updated 4/18/09 (New Info Added) Lux Just a comment here, a quick calculation using the "new" lumen values that you calculated for the CL-1794 bulb give a rating of slightly above 53 Lumens/Watt (1333 Lumens and 24.96 Watts). I never thought these levels of...

    Direct Drive P7 M@g Experience

Thanks for clearing that up. I was in the process of making a P7 2D Mag. I wanted to run the P7 a bit harder than last time as I'll be using it myself. Two ways of doing this are by using either one of Taskled's hipCC driver boards, or one of Der Wichtel's buck convertors. In as far as I can...

Alan Just a question, how do you measure the current across the P7 LED? I read on another thread that there is a voltage drop caused by the ammeter which will underestimate the current flow. Is this true? How did you correct for this underestimation?

Stanley H.I.D. and 1365 lumen spotlights (Part 1)

Re: New Stanley H.I.D. and 1365 lumen spotlights I'm just throwing an idea in here, I seem to recall a few suppliers making aluminium boxes for electronic components. Maybe one of those could be modified to house the components of this HID light? Being aluminium may be beneficial to heat...

Finally finished: Triple Seoul P7 Mag-Lite

True, Everything starts to get expensive as soon as you start shipping stuff . Still, it's good to know that an "almost" turnkey solution is available for tri-P7 Mag. And it's probably the most efficient 2K+ torch lumens you can get (short of going for HID - which is fragile).

Finally finished: Triple Seoul P7 Mag-Lite

    Kudos for a great project! :twothumbs The light looks very nice! However, just to put things in perspective; Budget for the tri-P7 light: Mag 4D = $40.00 3x DSWOI P7 = $86.00 4x 18650 = $20.00 2x Li-Ion chrgr = $18.00 DerWichtel kit = €45.00=~$60 Total...

    Direct Drive P7 M@g Experience

The cells that I have seem to be fresh. They're made in Belgium. Unfortunately, I've sent the 3D P7 off to my younger brother as a gift. I'll try to make another one soon, and then I'll run a test with different cells. I might do one like you. A 2D Mag with 3 C-cells. Then I'll share my experience.

    Direct Drive P7 M@g Experience

Alan I'm just wondering how I was getting 2.2 amps on an I-bin with 3 D-size Duracell alkalines and not higher . Logically, a J-bin should draw less current, isn't it? Did you do any switch mods to reduce resistance?
