    RARE MAGLITES

Oh, there are after market silver and gold plated Maglites, for sure. I had a black Marquis for a bit and traded it for a gold plated brass minimag formerly owned by Don Keller then traded that for a gold plated 3aa alluminum Brinkmann Legend owned by Don. It was 1 of 12 made. I still have the...

    RARE MAGLITES

There was rumored to be a sterling silver plated Marquis, which is what the Solitaire was named before it was called Solitaire. Tony Maglica did a small flashlight for his (then) girlfriend and called it Marquis. Rumor has it hers was sterling silver plated. Marquis was renamed Solitaire after...

HOW MANY FLASHLIGHTS DO YOU NEED?

I went through that for a while. Buying even more did not help matters. Your favorite is your favorite and often you know it is the first time you use it (but not always). I just stashed the others at places like a shed, a shelf in a bathroom, one in the attic etc in case the favorite konks out...

    The right angle flashlight thread

Modern LED military lights - Left is the 40 lumen Pentagon Molle with filters in the base. Nice little AA light with a basic on/off. No electronics allow this one to be pretty reliable and store a good long time without sucking the batteries dry. Throwey beam means it appears pretty bright for...

Your favorite brand of LED flashlights

Fenix is a good brand. I prefer other brands but I don't scoff at the Fenix. For me flashlights are tools so I don't really have one "universal lighting tool". I like simple for the most part so my brand preference is mainly based on that principle. Here in 2021 my really bright and/or long...

    The right angle flashlight thread

Mine are both Fulton as well. MX991/U and MX991\U. I asked Fulton what's the difference and got back "got me"… I'd guess that the gasket at the bottom where one inserts batteries would be similar enough to work. Up top though may differ some such as OD.

    The right angle flashlight thread

I contacted Fulton and bought new gaskets and filters for an MX991 I restored along with an LED drop in and 2 d cell to aa adapters.

    The right angle flashlight thread

The MX991 was a late Korea/early Vietnam era light. You might try liquid wrench/wd 40 type bond breaker. Spay it on the joint and let it set over night. When I was a kid my parents were often able to get stuck jar lids loose by gentley tapping around the lid with a steak knife. In this case...

How many lumens do you own?

Let's see where things stand since 2015 now that shower head pop can lights can equal 10's of thousands and the 1000 lumen barrier has been smashed. I never went for max lumens so if I even counted it would not be more than 20k or so.

HOW MANY FLASHLIGHTS DO YOU NEED?

Many people rely on their cellular phone for light. I have to admit I have used mine here and there on the rare occurance it was a better option than the EDC I had with me.

HOW MANY FLASHLIGHTS DO YOU NEED?

Ordinarily I only NEED one at a time. Yesterday I found myself needing two. The second one lit up the one I was working on to improve it some. Once done I used the other to light up the back up while I worked on that one. Post #70 above was one of my first posts here at CPF. I'd been a member...

    Why do you collect flashlights?

I used to collect them for the historical aspect and just for fun. But when my "collection" reached somewhere between 500 and 1000 I decided to only buy lights I'll use. So now I have a "collection" of around 100 lights I bought to use.

    RARE MAGLITES

Hopefully they will Icarus I was surprised the ones I mentioned had shown up at their site. Don't know if they just decided to clear some shelves of new old stock or if they have been reproducing some old favorites. I suspect it's new old stock.
