    S3 EDC from Mountain Electronics

Hello uofaengr. I do like your thinking on planning for your light. As I think about your objectives, the 10511 sure does sound like a good choice. Additionally, the 4.4A would allow for longer run time and not quite as much heat. Interesting that you mention a custom 5 mode option. I had...

    S3 EDC from Mountain Electronics

Hello uofaengr. I should like to share a few opinions about the S3 EDC. First, the bottom line: I have had one for about a week now and I can heartily recommend it. Second, some notes: 1. I chose the grey body, 5.8A, XPL-HI 5000k, 4 modes starting with high +memory, 10507 optic. 2. I...

Search & Rescue lots of throw, with decent flood capability?

Re: Search & Rescue lots of throw, with decent flood capability? Just a couple of years ago when I was a mountain SAR volunteer, I carried three lights, other than my keychain light, as one light would not do everything. Of course, whatever you buy becomes outdated in a matter of several...

Light and an EDC kit, what do you think of this kit?

I say save your money. For less than $98 you can put together your own real EDC and/or BOB setup just by things from Walmart, Dollar Store, etc. Check out Youtube videos on an altoids kit for example.

What is the brightest, lightest, and the most compact searchlight I can get?

When I lived in New Mexico, I was a search and rescue volunteer. FYI, I carried at least two flashlights. One that I carried was the Sunwayman V20c --- http://goinggear.com/sunwayman-v20c-2-x-cr123-438-lumens-led-flashlight-8083.html. Brightest light around? No. Lots of throw? Not...

Re: Sinner Customs - Tri-EDC's and more. Hello gktii. Thanks for your response! I am encouraged based on your experience. I do have other questions: In your Tri-EDC light setups do they start out in Low? Or other levels? Do you know if that is something that can be specified in an order...

Sold/Expired Sinner Customs - Tri-EDC's and more - this run CLOSED

Re: Sinner Customs - Tri-EDC's and more. Hello everyone. Have not been active for a bit on CPF, and I just ran into this thread. I am definitely interested in exploring this! FYI, I used to have a Mac Tri-EDC with triple XPG's on 18350 cells. A few years back, in a funds gathering mode, I...

need suggestions for an emergency radio and go bag

I should like to strongly agree with what Ed (KC0UKR) has said. If one is serious about radio for emergency purposes getting a ham license is highly recommended. In my mountain search & rescue volunteer work we suggest getting a ham license. Indeed I have done that. Cannot recommend it too...

    Search and rescue light

In my SAR volunteer work, I recommend that team members carry 3 lights. This is under the "1 is none" and "2 is 1" preparedness philosophy. At a minimum carry 1 headlight and two larger lights. In my 2 years of SAR volunteer work, about 80% of the missions are at night. As of now, I always...

Is there an HDS quality light out there that uses AA's!!?

My wife has a BA10 for her search and rescue pack. It is a budget choice with 2 modes only --- low and high. She uses it with Eneloop AAs. Simple no frills light that is decently made. In my homemade sphere I measure about 135 lumens on high as compared to the advertised 160, FYI. It is...

please recommend a light for wooded area search and rescue

I am a mountain SAR volunteer. FYI, I was using an Olight M31 until it broke. Ended up getting a TN31a few weeks ago for my uses here in New Mexico. Use Eagletac 3100s. Since I got it have not been called out on missions. But in test walks this thing is a throw animal. So far so good...

Recomend me a good thrower for about 120$ +/-

Just got the TN31 on sale at the Thrunite website. Came also with a TN10 --- an EDC AA light. The TN31 is a throw beast. Will use it for nighttime search & rescue call outs. So far I like it. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

    SAR flashlight? Help Please.

While my SAR is probably different (I am in mountains in Southern Rockies) I recently bought a Sunwayman V20c. Already have a small cr123 light & an Olight M31 for decent throw that I devote to SAR. I chose the SWM V20c for a general purpose light. Runs on 1x 18650 or 2x cr123s. There...

Why so little talk of the SWM V20c?

I recently got the V20C for hiking and search & rescue. It is a general purpose light --- in my uses --- that gives a range of outputs. With the variable control ring I get useful lows and high up over 400 otf lumens. I find that for my purposes a higher high is not important. Already have a...
