    Surefire Aviator 2017 thread

Re: Surefire Aviator release date? Surefire discontinued all their remaining lights using that UI a few years ago. It's a damn shame, too.

Why is everyone using Cree LEDs?

C4 is purely a marketing term that stands for 'Whatever LED we want to use.'

Why is everyone using Cree LEDs?

Most of their TIR optic equipped lights use Osram Oslon Square LEDs.

    Surefire Aviator 2017 thread

Re: Surefire Aviator release date? Square is a model of LED, not a shape. Not really. Surefire's been behind the game for many years when you look at battery choices and emitters. The small Oslon Square behind their TIR optics in lights like the EB2 makes for a nice tight hotspot compared to...

Does Peak still make bigger lights?

Their web page only lists Eigers, El Capitans, etc. EM-MGT/RMSK hasn't updated their site or inventory in years. Oveready only has Eigers and Logans (When in stock). Are the Night Patrol, First Responder, etc. lines dead? A 18650 or more light with a modern LED from Peak would be nice to see...

    Surefire Aviator 2017 thread

Re: Surefire Aviator release date? It looks like the control ring physically moves the appropriate LED to be under the optic.

Re: Surefire Aviator release date? Anybody know what the main LED is in this? Osram Oslon Square like their other TIR lights, or something else?

    Surefire E2L-AA discontinued?

SF feels like they discontinued most of their product line this year. The E2L-AA like all XR-E lights was getting long in the tooth... an updated version would have been nice, though.

    The official PKDL thread

Re: Paul Kim's PK-PR1 I'd like a neutral or warm tint - 6500k is way too cool (why is a higher temperature called cooler?) for my taste. Turning on in low first would be nice. And, of course, how can it be a spiritual successor to the E1 series without a TIR optic? [emoji48]

    The official PKDL thread

Re: Paul Kim's PK-PR1 I got this light in the mail today. I don't think I've ever described a flashlight as "adorably cute" before...

What was the last LED light you purchased and why?

I wanted a very bright very floody light for handheld scene lighting. Lots of choices, but I decided to go a bit over budget and all out with a TN36UT in neutral white. On turbo it's like I have the noon sun in my hand. Mmm.

    TN36UTvn - Pop Can King

What would it cost for you to mod a TN36ut I already own (Or at least have coming in the mail)?

    Surefire wish list

I'd like to see an updated AZ2 with a modern LED for a brighter high mode with more runtime, and a version of the R1 with a TIR optic.

    Armytek Prime C2 first impressions

I've been meaning to contact Armytek about warranty service for my Prime C1 - it turned on on its own and now won't turn off or change modes - but having to mess with videos and shipping to China? That sounds like more hassle than it's worth.

What was the last LED light you purchased and why?

Just got an Eagletac MX25LC, because I wanted a bright high CRI light. Then I discovered that my only matched set of 18650s won't work in it because they're the fat button top style, and I only had 4 CR123s, and ouch are store bought CR123s expensive. But it's bright and I have new 18650s in the...

Fenix MC11 upgrade: up to 155 (burst) lumens

I didn't care for the MC10 switch. Hmm. Looks like the body got a redesign too in this update. Maybe Fenix should have called it the MC12.

Fenix MC11 upgrade: up to 155 (burst) lumens

I would kill for this light with a floody E05 style optic. The diffuser that came with mine broke too, so I had to improvise (I found the cap off of a road flare fits perfectly.), but pure flood built in to it would be great. The MC11 is one of my favorite lights. It's so flexible and useful...

    Surefire A2L Aviator Red

Don't the 500odd lumen 2xCR123 lights from SF lose a lot of that brightness in the first few minutes? I'd rather have something with more consistent output throughout its runtime. Of course, I do have and like a M3LT which has just such a drop...

    Thoughts on Streamlight products?

Looking at a showerhead style Propolymer 4AA would be my guess.
