Recommend me a quality UV flashlight under $80

One place the S2+ does fall short of the Tattu is in distance viewing. I can illuminate the field of stars on my US flag from about 38 feet with the Convoy S2+, but with the Tattu they illuminate out to about 62 feet. In both instances I have to turn the flashlight on & off several times to...

Recommend me a quality UV flashlight under $80

Looking at spec's, it seems the ZWB1 filter (around 90% UV transmittance & cutoff at about 398nm) would be much better than a ZWB2 filter (around 75% UV transmittance & cutoff at about 403nm), or am I missing something ??? I found and ordered a ZWB1 filter for the Convoy S2+, but could not...

Recommend me a quality UV flashlight under $80

It fits my hands very well, I like that it fits both protected and unprotected 26650's, though some of the longer (70mm+) protected cells might not work. I also like the brightness, but don't like the dark spot in the middle. Definitely want to see how it compares with the Convoy S2+ which I'm...

Recommend me a quality UV flashlight under $80

I overlayed the two graphs in Photoshop Elements and discovered that they are indeed almost the same. The graph in red is the Nichia, the grey is the Marktech. RE: filters, are there any brand names I should avoid on the ZWB2 filters? I see a whole bunch to fit the S2+ ranging from $1.91 to...

Recommend me a quality UV flashlight under $80

I ended up buying both the 26650 based Tattu 365nm U3S, and the Convoy S2+ Nichia 365, $86 combined after shipping & taxes. The Tattu should be here tomorrow, the Convoy S2+ next week. Here are the graphs I found from the Marktech datasheet for the Marktech 365nm 7.8V UV LED:

Hm... never heard of them, but I see the U3S uses 26650's and claims a 10W 365nm emitter, though they only list the light as 80 lumens??? Also seems odd that they would have strobe and SOS modes on a UV flashlight.... I'm diggin the Convoy S2+ UV, I absolutely love my Convoy L6, I'm finding...

    1200 Lumen Weapon Light.

I have an Armytek Dobermann Pro XP-L HI white which is factory stated as up to 1200 lumens (I believe that's when running two 18350's / 16340's), which doubles as a weapon light for my AR10 build. Don't have any way to verify if that output claim is accurate or not, but it is noticeably...

Perceptions of what is too big for EDC

EDC is all about perception.... what do you personally perceive as being too big for EDC. For someone that's accustomed to it, even a 5 D-Cell Maglite can be fine (but probably not ideal) for EDC...

A "venting" about Nitecorestore.com (not the light itself) please chime in...

Battery Safety is blown out of proportion.... If you have a cell phone, you've been using Lithium Ion batteries. If you have a laptop, you've been using multiple Lithium Ion batteries. The dangers aren't much different from those devices. Remember the fires that plagued certain Sony...

Re: A rant about Nitecore please chime in... I believe that your rant is based on a flawed premise, & possibly on flawed thinking as well.... Pre-orders are almost always shipped first ordered, first out. Sometimes initial shipments may be very small, even just a single case of product, so if...

    Nitecore SRT7

Battery Junction has eFest & Xtar 18350's. Personally, I prefer the significantly longer runtime of a quality high drain 3500mAh 18650 (about 3 hours continuous with ring set on "turbo") vs less than 30 minutes out of a pair of eFest high drain(7A continuous / 10.5A pulse) 700mAh 18350's...

    Nitecore SRT7

My guess is wrong kind of top on the battery. You need a small button-top battery for the Nitecore SRT7. The positive contact is recessed & flat top / large button top batteries (over .3" diameter button) don't make connection with the positive contact.

What Are YOU Planning Or Buying/Ordering On Black Friday And/Or Cyber Monday?

Well... none of the items I wanted was on sale :( So, I picked up a pair of Nitecore TIP's, one with the high CRI Nichia 219B for myself, and one with the XP-G2 for my mom.

    Armytek viking x issue

The "red" is primarily a cleaner, not a protector, after cleaning with it, finish with DeoxIt Shield (contact protector), or just switch to DeoxIt Gold which is both cleaner and protector. Also use cleaner & protector on your battery contacts as well, corrosion / tarnish can transfer from the...

What was the last LED light you purchased and why?

Armytek Dobermann Pro in "white" because it's smaller & lighter than my Nitecore SRT7, & the white emitter version is currently 20% off, & I wanted a light that can double as a weapon light on a .308 Winchester rifle which has pretty strong recoil.
