    The worlds most popular EDC

True dat. The Samsung S series, which may be the most popular non-iPhone, has a user replaceable battery - which is a very good thing. You can snap the back off and easily pull the battery. Others, like the HTC One, are not. On the HTC One, the battery is buried under the motherboard and...

will mobile phone flashlight apps stop the need to edc a flashlight

The good thing about smartphone lights is that other people can use their smartphones as their primary lights during an emergency, which means they won't be trying to borrow my light.

Which type of flashlight do you prefer as EDC on keychain??

Thats what happens when you are on the verge of super-intelligence. The keys disappear. Actually, I just don't like having a gigantic wad of janitor's keys slapping against the steering column or scratching up the front door to my mansion. So I carry a ring with only keys, and the one shown...

Which type of flashlight do you prefer as EDC on keychain??

My keychain light is a backup to my primary belt carry EDC light, and a backup to my smart phone light. Its a "trapped in an elevator and need a long runtime" light. So I go with a Fenix E01. I'm also a minimalist, so it all works together.

Looking for a Flashlight to be used as a Security/Police officer..... Wolfeyes?

Consider also the Streamlight Stinger LED and Strion LED. They are rechargeable as well.

Has anyone here at CPF ever actually used STROBE MODE?

I've used the strobe to signal an ambulance at 2am, repel and attacking Chihuahua (which I could have kicked across the yard if necessary) and flash a car that was backing up in my direction. I don't use the strobe much, but really like to have it.

    How things have changed.

Then check out these lugged Arc AA's. Less than a dozen were made, according to Peter Gransee. The X is an inch longer, and the 6P has a larger body OD. Close enough for me.

    How things have changed.

Back in the day, not that long ago it seems, cutting edge flashlight technology consisted of a Surefire 6P. It "cranked out" 60 lumens. The filament died after a few hours. If you dropped it, the bulb broke. You couldn't feed it rechargeables, and its output began to diminish as soon as you...

July 2010: lights you bought this month

I have pretty much switched over to buying knives to feed my inner beast, and haven't bought a light in a good while, but I did just buy an old Arc CR123 with nylon sheath this week. Good stuff. Arc is what got me started in lights, and they still fire off the pleasure neurons in my brain.

    Photos of your keychain rig...

You may see lots of setups that weigh 42 lbs and look like custodian keys. I don't much care for that approach. When I did carry extra stuff (I have subsequently gone minimalist), it looked like this. I preferred two keyrings - one with keys, and the other with the extras.

    show us your everday flashlight

You axed for pics, and this is the only one I have of my EDC Fenix AA Q5 with anti-roll technology (I can never remember the non-intuitive Fenix names) . It gets rotated with a Fenix 2xAA Q5, and Fenix L0D AAA depending on my mood (I looked in my pocket for the name :)).

    Flashlight that got you "HOOKED"?

The original Arc lights got me hooked. Something about them that fired off the neurons in the pleasure centers of my brain. Mil-spec toughness, utilitarian, all function, cutting edge. I'm not fond of the latest offering, but that old stuff rocked.

Does your wife pick on you when your EDC breaks?

If your wife was where she was supposed to be (in the kitchen making you a pie), she wouldn't see your EDC break. Come on - start thinking clearly! joking

April 09, Flashlights You Bought This Month.

Waiting on a Fenix TK40, but my credit card was zapped in March so maybe that doesn't count. Having bought almost every light I could want, I've slowed waaaay down on the purchases. But that just leaves more spendage for knives, Maxpedition products and EDC stuff. :)
