Review: QTC in non-QTC El Capitan

Weirdness. I was absolutely certain I updated this thread with the final runtime. I remember writing it! But it's not here, so thanks for reminding me to update, LGT. I stopped the runtime test after 31 days. It was still putting out a useful amount of light, but I estimate that it was only...

Hey Timmyns. :) Nope, just plain old alkaline for this test. Day 26 and still going. Here's a pic to show brightness:

Review: QTC in non-QTC El Capitan

It's day 25 of my test, and I'm completely bewildered by the fact that this light is still going! Honestly, I thought I'd be lucky to get a week out of this test. I must have it set at a much lower level than I first thought. But it doen't seem like a low level. I like it dark when I sleep...

Review: QTC in non-QTC El Capitan

I'm happy to do it. :) I wished there was more information out there about this stuff when I was shopping for a light, so maybe this will help someone. Day 16, still going strong. Maybe someone can answer this question for me. Is it possible/expensive to convert my non-QTC light into the...

Review: QTC in non-QTC El Capitan

Review: QTC in non-QTC El Capitan

I received a shiny new SS El Capitan in the Christmas giveaway this year, and wanted to post my impressions so others might benefit. As the title of this thread suggests, my focus will be about how QTC functions in an older, non-QTC El Capitan. Here is a list of things I like about this light...

    El Capitan Questions

Norm, according to your table, a #5 produces about 22 OTF lumens and a #4 produces about 18 OTF lumens on NIMH. I think either of these would be fine with me. With #6 and above, I see a big decrease in efficiency. eala, thanks for the info. Maybe you'll be able to answer this question too...

    El Capitan Questions

Looking for a new AA light. Someone on another thread suggested an El Capitan. I was having hard time finding information about the Peak lights, and had a few specific questions. 1. Looking to have max brightness 20-30 lumens on single eneloop. What head should I get? #4? #5? Can't find...
