    Prolonged peizo and taskled

I don't have either of those boards anymore. I wish I could try it. The first died when a light flooded, and the second was broken when it fell off my workbench and I didn't take notice til it was too late >_< I just don't understand why the piezo would suddenly stop working. It has sat on a...

    Prolonged peizo and taskled

I have an odd issue. I've used my prolonged peizo switch with two taskled boards successfully. I hooked up my new bflex board, however I couldn't control the circuit with the switch. I tested both independently of each other, both seem to be functioning. I have confirmed with taskled, there have...

Need help troubleshooting a dive light

Yes, charging it fixed it. The original board was in fact dead. However, installing the new board that was tripped into 'protection mode' gave an illusion that the problem might be elsewhere.

Need help troubleshooting a dive light

Thank you very much! I was able to unlock the protection circuit and I'm moving on with the rebuild.

Need help troubleshooting a dive light

Alright, so I built a can light awhile ago. It ended up flooding. I'm trying to revive it now, however I can't get it to turn on after overhauling the insides. I think the issue might be with the battery pack. It's 4 cells and I get a reading of about 16.2V from end to end. I have a protection...

Looking to upgrade bulb for diving strobe/light

I'd back the Princeton Tek AMP 1L any day. I recently did an entire night dive with it and it worked great. Output is only 45 lumens with 2AAA, roughly what you get from a small 4AA xenon light, however it will burn a claimed 72 hours. It has a removable cone that can transform it into a...

For those looking for sealed battery solutions

I think you could couple them better with magnets, or rather a magnet and an iron disk. The coils would be rather easy to wind, but I'm not sure about the circuitry... Also, you could get the coils to almost touch if you potted the coil in a small recess in the outside of the body of the light.

    XM-L2 led for dive light

No. The XM-L is binned based on it's physical temperature being 25C or 77F. The XM-L2 is binned at 85C or 185F. An XM-L2 Led running at 25C would be about 11-12% brighter than it's rated(T6 for example) An XM-L running at 85C is about 11-12% dimmer than it's rated(based on 700mA current) These...

Planning a DIY Canister Light build, need some help

I did a waterproof test for over 8 hours in water today. The light is fully functional. Beam shots, SL3 vs my light.

Planning a DIY Canister Light build, need some help

Ok, so I have everything setup, now I just need help with wiring/soldering the driver between the battery and LEDs. Again, the driver is here: http://www.kaidomain.com/product/details.S020121 Also, can I use thermal epoxy to attach the driver to the heat sink?

Dive lamp project for underwater bio-fluorescence

Has anyone tried this in southern California? We don't have coral here(mostly anyway) so would there be anything interesting to see?

Planning a DIY Canister Light build, need some help

No, it's not waterproof. Yet. The plug has been reportedly tested to 250psi. I'm going to guess it works well. The o-ring is massive! Kind of hard to imagine any water getting through it. I like the SS plug, mine is made mostly of plastic. It's an Oatey test plug, commonly found here in the...

Planning a DIY Canister Light build, need some help

Source: Home Depot, Lowes, actually any major hardware store should have them. Cost was $3. I'm going to swap the nut out for something similar but low profile or modify the existing one for now. The screw needs to be cut to size as there as quite a bit of unnecessary length to snag stuff on. I...

Planning a DIY Canister Light build, need some help

Ok, good ideas! Thank you so much. I was thinking about putting the cable glands on the bottom(sealed), however they will be very hard to access there. I do have more than enough wire to run the length of the canister to the access point for a charging connection. Also, I sealing the access...

Planning a DIY Canister Light build, need some help

Thanks for the input! I've already ordered a boro lens and prolonged piezo. Any thoughts on the pressure plug design? It removes the latches for the equation. Do I need to take extra precautions against flooding? Any thoughts about adding the glands to the side of the pipe rather than top?

Planning a DIY Canister Light build, need some help

Ok, prolonged it is for ease of use and ability to upgrade circuitry. Ok, one more idea. Can a cable gland be installed into the side of a pvc pipe easily? Does this require reinforcing? Does the gland need a flat surface to mount onto?

Planning a DIY Canister Light build, need some help

Yes, I'm sure the circuit won't be ideal, however I'm on a budget and being my first build I don't want invest too much... yet anyway. The circuit seems one of the easiest parts to replaced and very well might be. I read somewhere that some of those drivers are about 70% efficient vs 90% with a...
