Best Incan Bulb for 9 volt applicaiton

Much appreciated 5M. Glad to see you are still around. It has been quite a while since I have been here and I still recognize some of the old timers. Actually, I feel like the largest dummy around. I just found out these fine Li-Ion cells are primary cells and that is not what I wanted at all...

Best Incan Bulb for 9 volt applicaiton

Thanks darkknightlight. These are LiSO2, PTC-protected cells from HDS Systems. I have the 1185 bulb in the light right now and it looks like a regular mag light. I have a couple of other bulbs in my tool box and I am going to give them a try. This is a tough voltage to deal with. I need a nice...

Best Incan Bulb for 9 volt applicaiton

I have a old 1185 in a Mag 3D and some new batteries. These are D cell Li-Ion and are rated a 3 volts not 3.6. What is a good incan bulb for a 9 volt operation? Thanks

    AW's Going Regulated ! W00T !

Nope, on this one voltage in = voltage out. No cutoff either. There were some other regulators for sale a while back that regulated the voltage to suit a particular lamp and had a cutoff voltage, but they are not for sale now. AW is supposed to be working on a regulated version, but there have...

How do you charge your hotwire?

I have modded the tail cap with a DC plug and run wires to the battery pack or if possible the battery holder and just plug it into a smart charger. Can't do this for all battery holders, but you sure can for a custom battery pack. It is certainly nice and handy to not have to even take the...

    AW's Going Regulated ! W00T !

The ones AW presently sells are not regulated but provide a soft start at 30% on the first click up to 100% on the third click. They work GREAT and I have one in a Mag85 which is one of my favorite lights. The model he is working on is regulated to a specific voltage output which will also be...

    WA1185 bulb original/intended use?

I believe the first recorded medical use was in an eye-rectumoy procedure for illumination of the nerve to be severed which provides a crappy outlook on life.

    Hotwire Problem

I should have known it could not be a simple fix. I'm back to screwing the tailcap off and on with the switch on for the light to work. Still think it is a resistance issue though. I sure hate to set asside $75 worth of FM batt holders and $90 worth of 17500 cells and install a welded NiMh pack...

    Hotwire Problem

Just finished charging the cells individually rather in the FM holder placed in in a 4 D cell battery tray I fabricated. That way I am sure each cell is toped off. The batteries and FM holders had plenty of excess ProGold on it. I never knew you were supposed to wipe the excess off. I used an...

Just start with a good light instead of modding

I am with greenLED. I have one ambush light in particular. It is a 20 year old black 3DMag which has the old wide body. I have 12 high discharge 1700 MiMH cells in it driving a Osram 64623 100 watt bulb. The body of the light looks like it's been in an a-- kicking contest. When someone picks...

    Hotwire Problem

mudman cf, Thanks for the reply. There is no blinking when you multi click. In fact nothing at all happens when you rapidly click the switch. The ONLY way the light will come on is to click the switch to the on position then unscrew the tailcap and screw it back in several times. I have been...

    Hotwire Problem

Thankfully the hotdriver is fine. The normal indication of a failure is the light will not turn off at the switch. Once this one is on for a while it continues to work fine. Lux is right on target I feel and I will check these fixes out in a bit. Thanks.

    Hotwire Problem

I have a tri bore Mag 85 which uses 9 LiIon 17500 cells in 3 separate FM holders. It has an AWR HD hotdriver of course with a low resistance KIU socket. My problem is the light will not come on unless you actually click it on then work the tail cap back and forth a couple of turns. Then it will...

    Mag85 rest time?

I run my 1185 bulbs at 10.8v max. Don't know any way to push 12v to a 1185. LuxLuthor has a destructive bulb test in the hotwire stickey thread at the top of this forum. You might pick up a lot of good info there and also wait until the experts chime in on this thread for some accurate info. The...

    Mag85 problem

Sorry to have not replied again earlier. I am having computer problems and am waiting on a new Motherboard from Hong Hong to get back up and running. I am on a borrowed pc right now. I was going to suggest Elite 1700 NiMH cells from Cheap Battery Packs but since you have alrady tried new batts...

    Mag85 problem

Since NiMH are not that expensive try new cells. The problem you describe is caused by the HD shutting down for low voltage to prevent excess discharge of cells. In your case you have at least one bad cell which is causing the shut down. that HD is probably set to 10.8 volts or so and your pack...
