This one sat on my desk a long time !
The retaining-ring was not locked with glue or eopxy, but
with SOLDER !! ARGHHHH Too bad solder does not soften by
boiling, like Loctite does... The answer: BRUTE FORCE !! hehehe
I managed to "find the holes" of the retainer and inserted
my needle-nose pliers in them. The head of the body was secured
between rubber and a Craftsman Robogrip...
Luckily solder is "softer" then alu... The retaining-ring unscrewed
after a few hour of teeth-grinding agony...
I managed to do so without damaging the board, retainer or threads...
So anyway, Light-engine was custom built:
0.77" Goldserve FluPIC, piggybacking a custom-sanded copper heatsink,
onto which the Seoul USW0H was epoxied and soldered on.
For light-collamination I used a custom sanded McR-18.
The Old optic and plastic lens were replaced by a coated glass-lens.
(Anti-scratch)...
The proud new owner of this Gem may post his experience here too...
Cheers !!!
Questions, comments and suggestions more then welcome !
