10,000,00 cp spotlight?

Re: 10,000 cp spotlight?

You're missing 3 zeros in your title, and yeah, search for "Thor" in the spotlight forum and you'll find plenty /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: 10,000 cp spotlight?

It sure looks like a Thor to me. I am no HID or big light expert, but I can identify it as a Thor.

Re: 10,000 cp spotlight?

Yeah, I wouldn't be able to tell completely without physically seeing it, but that would be my guess.

There are better prices out there, if you're looking for one. .

Re: 10,000 cp spotlight?

Sure looks like a Thor. Costco has them for $24 in case you are a member. Lots of people here have converted them to HID.

I have never owned a spot light HID or otherwise, how do you turn this into a HID thor, and how much to do so? VDG

Re: 10,000 cp spotlight?

I don't think it's very complex, there's a lot of room in the Thor for putting ballasts and stuff. Don't know about cost, though. It'd be nice if somebody could put together a reasonably-priced kit to make this mod easy.

Re: 10,000 cp spotlight?

Even stock, this is a pretty good light. It's better when it's plugged into your power port/lighter port in your car, but it will light up a building a couple hundred meters away just after dawn when the sun is still low in the sky.

Re: 10,000 cp spotlight?

I recently did a Thor HID conversion. I bought the H4 35W HID kit on ebay for ~$175USD. The HID kit actually contains a pair of H4 HID's. There is a lot of room to mount the ballast and igniter. I did have to modify the spacing of the bulb so that is was more of a spot instead of a flood. I paid a lot more for my Thor, I'll have to check out Costco for my second Thor conversion. If you want pics, let me know and I'll take it a part and post some photos. B-T-W, here's how bright my Thor is at night (15 second exposure).

Nice picture Jazz! Could you please resize it to be smaller though? (Don't want you to get in trouble)

Re: 10,000 cp spotlight?

Oops!!! Pics have been resized. Here's also a pic of the bulb, while turned on.

Re: 10,000 cp spotlight?

I wonder how far you can see the beam of light? I wonder if you waved it back and forth people would come to your house thinking there is a sale at some store or something!!!

I really want to mod one of these to HID one day. Unforntantaly I have no money now. Too bad to because parts america had TRUE BLACK bodied thors, they weren't dark grey, I mean they were pure black. Looked very nice and expensive. They were 50 bucks though.

Re: 10,000 cp spotlight?

I have from a reliable source that the beam is visable out to at least 3 nautical miles /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: 10,000 cp spotlight?

I bought another Thor, this time at Costco for $25. Here's a comparison of the stock Thor (both 90W low beam and 100W high beam turned on) vs. the HID Thor with one 35W Xenon HID.

And this image, I separated them. Both photos were taken with a 15 second exposure on my Canon A80. Notice the bug that flew into the shot on the HID Thor.

Pretty cool /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/huh.gif Just goes to show the power of HID.
