im a flashaholic about 2yrs now....i have had intrest in lights since i first picked up a MAG as the same for most cpf'ers!

my question is i want something that has perfect buid quality superb reliability and most of all the brightness of it....im not really fussy about throw or flood! i have a few lights in my posesion now, basicly i thought the lights i have were good enough, i was fixing something in my job the other day and i have a fenix that fits my needs perfect P3D Q5....it has plenty of brightness modes for differant tasks, it seems like the right light for most things, but it failed on me again, it turned off by itself then went on, then flashed, so this does'nt seem to be a reliable light at all, well i had a P3D ce before that and that burned out cause it was on turbo for 5-6mins, but they seem like good lights till you put them to real use, so what i want is something like a surfie 9P or something simular, the 9P does'nt seem to pack as much power as i want, is there any advise you guys can give.

so i need something that is 10/10 in every area!

build quality--top notch!
power--300+ out the front lumens not bulb lumens!
reliabilty--top notch!
size--no bigger than a M6 surefire!
floody or spot--spot to flood or just spot not a big issue!!!!
modes--not an issue!

Sounds like a Custom jobbie to me :D
How about a 1D Mag with a P7.
Have you had a chance to play with a quality P7 light ?

Perhaps an Elektrolumens light. Either a P7 M@gmod or the EDC P7.
I agree you can't go wrong with a Malkoff either.
A Wolf Eyes P7 Sniper is also a mini-beast and I've yet to have a problem with Wolf Eyes products. The WE Thunder and Storm lights are also good things to look into.

You also have the option for an incan. There are some decent incans out there that will push over 300 lumens. Yet again you can get nice Wolf Eyes hosts and Lumens Factory lamp assemblies. You could of course just get an M6 and be done with it. :p

I don't have a lot of experience with compact HIDs so I can't attest to their durability. But you also can't go wrong with a Polaron PH50 (errr 45 now I think) :broke: $2000+

yea ive been keepin my eyes open on the C/S/T thread....i think that might be my best option!!!!

just to add

it has to be regulated--

You could also put a SSC P7 or Cree MC-E into a empty P60 module, and direct drive it in a 6P size light off one 18650. It won't be regulated, but it will be extremely small for it's brightness.

dont talk to me about polarions....ive been itching at my wallet the last week about these PH40's...there has been 3 of these on sale in the last week....do you know i had a dream about owning a PH40 while these were on cpfmp and that morning i woke from this heavenly dream and trust me i was'nt the nicest person you could meet!....flashaholic or what!!!

The best I can do is 9/10.

Just recently got this light put together. Take a Surefire E2E, take off the stock head, attach an Optics HQ E2 LED (Q5) head. The beam is the absolute perfect balance of throw and spill that I have ever seen! I've heard of one CPFer who had some minor Q.C. issues with his Optics HQ head. I bought mine used, off the MarketPlace. My dad is a retired Machinist. I know how to spot quality. I can honestly say that the aftermarket head I bought is just as good as Surefire.

Headless E2E, mated to this aftermarket head = 9/10

Considering the small size, the output from this head is incredible. With a surprising amount of throw and nice wide, white, spill beam.

Why only 9/10?

The head is, after all, an aftermarket product. And the andonizing is mis-matched.

With the exception of regulation (which you added further on down), why not get a SureFire M6? Looking at your requirements: High quality, 250 or 500 lumens, reliable, same size as M6 :D, monster throw plus a lot of spill! Pretty hard to beat. But if a good deal comes up on one in CPFMP, you might have to beat me to it, 'cause I'm looking for one too

Hi!

Yes, I'd also have to agree that a SureFire M6 with MN21 bulb (included with M6) will certainly give you 500 out-the-front lumens, but at the expense of runtime. The standard MN20 bulb will give you 250 lumens with longer runtime. Either way, the heat from front of M6 makes for a great hand warmer in these colder months! Definitely recommend the M6!

Regards, :welcome: Jackie

what about an SF m3.... you can drop in the 250 lumen LA which should get you close enough to the 300 lumen you want. the quality is as good as you can get and it would be easier to carry than the m6.... cheaper too.

Exactly what I was going to reccomend! The request sounds like someone looking for an M6.

I've got a Romisen RC-M4 with a R2 P60 module that I dropped in, I direct drive it and it pulls 2.1 amps, according to specs it should be pushing 350+ emitter lumens which would equate to at least 300 otf lumens. And I have to admit even that could be conservative as it's output nearly competes with my P7 light. Only problem is since it's so severely overdriven it needs to be perfectly heatsinked, so far so good but it can't be good for the emitter's health.

what about a surefire 9P with 2x18500 body & E-09 lamp.....i was also conserding buying a FM1794 bulb with his VLOP reflector and b-bin adaptor!!! which is the brightest out of the these with the 18500 batt set up, P91, E-09 or FM1794 bulb? i think FM's bulb is giving 400+ lumens out the front and the E-09 380 not to sure about these figure do!

The FM1794 is very impressive (fantastic beam!), but make sure you can terminate the charge on the cells at 4.15V. If you top off the cells to 4.2V... :poof:.
