I've read here that the Fenix LD01 (AAA) fires quite brightly on the 10440 rechargeable, however, is there a chance of damaging the circuit?:sick2:

Ive run the L0D on one without probs.
It gets hot quick, i only do it to wow people sometimes:faint:
I wouldnt use it like a standard one for long periods or it may:poof:

To my understanding the circuit goes into direct drive. I think the electronics would be safe but you run the risk of overheating the LED.

Hey, thanks a bunch for the replies and input, I'll feel better educated to try running my LD01 on the 10440.:thumbsup:lovecpf

Anyone have any numbers running 10440s in the LD01? Would it be worse to run it in the SS version? Since SS wouldn't dissipate heat as well?

This review had the LD01 run on all levels with a 10440 and it still works ok.

Hi, the quoted reviews are very professionally made, but still I'm not sure about every single statement in them for these reasons:

1. Besides my Fenix LD01 I own a LiteFlux LF2XT and a Nitecore D10. The sun-like output on the Fenix LD01 on 10440 ist true! The +1000 Lux more output on the Nitecore and the +600 Lux (using 14500) on the Liteflux (using 10440, both protrected Trustfire) is simply not the case, at least not with mine.

2. For the Nitecore it doesn't state in the review that the Li-Ion's might have a size problem with that battery type due to its lenght (besides beeing NOT brighter than on other battery types).

3. The Liteflux doesn't stay on with my 10440 at all (besides beeing NOT brighter than on other battery types).
:shakehead

Any comments welcome.

3. doesn't stay on? the light shuts off? maybe its a contact issue. Also, you're saying your lf2xt is not brighter w/ li ion?(nimh brightness is equal to li ion?)

maybe I misread or am not understanding correctly.
but, my lf2xt stays on with a 10440(not sure of brand, all silver wrapping, non protected of course, flat top(no button on positive side)--bought at lighthound.
and it is considerably brighter than alkaline, and nimh when using a li ion.

I must've misread, because #3 is not making sense to what I've seen/used.
