Sorry if i'm the new guy rehashing topic thats probably been discussed a million times.

I'm about to order some batteries for my E2D.. What is the best way to go, with cost and quality being considered. Do i need to go only with surefire batteries, i know i can get them cheaper, but if they will keep my light from getting messed up like some of these threads say, it would be worth it.

How are these, i can't remember where i saw this link.. http://www.botachtactical.com/nabccr123.html
Should i buy some of those ultracells, or just buck up and spend more on the surefire cells.

I haven't seen those tested and I haven't seen any negative about them either. So it is a tossup in my opinion.

And no, you do not need to go with surefire batteries.

I use Powerizer and Tenergy batteries from;
http://www.batteryjunction.com/ and have never had a problem with life or quality of construction. Also battery station, www.batterystation.com batteries have also been good to me.

I am no battery expert. But I do trust Surefire. They are a company that only provides the best and makes sure things do work as they should.
Which is why I only use SF123 cells.
Those things do contain a lot of energy. Better be prepared and buy the best ones you can get. As I don't know crap about it ... I trust SF.

I'm sure you are right, but at the same time, i wonder if some of these off brands are actually just name brand batteries that are wrapped with a different name. Thats how off brand stuff works a lot of the time. Ever see product recalls? It's funny how when they have to let the public know of a safety concern, they recall a name brand product and the generic label that is the exact same thing, just repackaged. Just wanted to find out what you guys that have been buying 123's longer than myself think the best bang for the buck is.

I once read that Surefires and Streamlight batteries are actually Panasonic (a good brand).

Of course everything is possible, but as long as I am not 100% sure, it will be SF123 for me.
SF does not manufacture those cells, as I understand it, they are basically selling them near cost. It is still unclear which brand they really are though.

Botach Tactical is selling those. I purchased 50 of them about 2 months ago. http://www.botachtactical.com/nabccr123.html

They're made by North Americal Battery Corpany. http://nabcorp.com/

The quality looks very nice and they have tight, consistent, construction. Shrink wrap is uniform as well at exterior dimensions. It has two vents at the top and they're not made in china. I've only used about 6 of them so far but they operate everything that I've put them in.

Many people are going to specify Surefire batteries only and that's up to you to decide. I like surefire batteries but I don't use only Surefire.

Whatever cell you decide upon, just don't mix old and new cells together. Only put new cells of the same manufacturer and model in you light at the same time. If you're not sure, just use them in a single cell light or throw them away. Mixing cells is often when problems occur. There have also been some issues with BatteryStation brand batteries that were made in China. Apparently they're not made in China anymore.

I'd suggest you look at the numerous threads in Electronics-Batteries included.

Due to the popularity of this topic, I'll close this thread, and direct you to the above.
