I have had an Eagletac T10LC2 for a few months now and I normally use RCR123's. Recently I tried AW 18650 batteries. I tried three different batteries and none of them worked. They work fine in my M30. I think the battery may not be making contact on the points. Has anyone else had a problem like this?

I tried searching the forum and as far as I was able to see no one has brought this up.

Hi moerush04,
You need to use button top batteries. If you PM me your contact info, we'll send you a free EagleTac 18650 battery.

Free stuff!

The crowd, it is growing unruly. Get in line for your PS3 (wearing a bullet resistant vest)!

But seriously, I've ordered my T100C2Mk2 from PTS, good experience thus far. :grin2:

Thanks for the responses,

RPP = Reverse Polarity Protection

Haha very funny.

Not even a 17670 will fit in mine.

That is very strange, the 123's rattle a lot in the tube which is normal, but even the 18650's are not all that snug of a fit in my opinion. Though I work with close tolerance parts so I am used to tight fits.

To all the other suggestions, yes it is a flat top 18650. I think its weird that the AW batteries are made this way. I was told by so many people that AW makes the best batteries. I must be mistaken that the Eagletac batteries are better. My mistake. That does make a lot of sense. I had a hunch that was the problem with my light. There is a small plastic ring on the head of the light where the batteries make contact with the head which could be blocking the 18650's from making contact. Thanks for the help.

Mike@PTS,

Thanks for the kind offer to send an 18650. PM sent.

Dan

On another note, I could not be happier with my Eagletac. I work night shifts at Port Columbus International Airport in Ohio. My co workers use the stereamlight LED light which costs about $175 or more off the Snap-on truck for the light. It is bulky and uses big batteries. It looks like a billy club hanging off the guys waists. My small eagletac is compact easy to switch between modes, has a great holster, and out shines all the other lights at work. I have been trying to sell the other guys on these lights but they wont because it is not 'guaranteed'.:shakehead My response? Well as Tommy Boy so brilliantly put it. 'It's a guaranteed piece of $h!t.' (Streamlight is a good light , and I know this.) It is just funny to me. lovecpf

What's so "Haha very funny" about my reply , since you now admit that RPP = Reverse Polarity Protection, was indeed your problem cause you were using flat top AW cells .

It was a hint ........ thought you'd understand .
.

AND ... I was the first one (post 3) to correctly diagnose your symptoms .

Dr.Gizmos won't be making house calls to your address anymore !

Lighten up. Geez. I thought you were joking with me by telling me I was putting the battery in backwards or something. That is what I thought you meant. I thought the problem was the battery was not making any contact with the light at all because it was a flat top battery, not a button top. If a button top means it does not have RPP and a flat top means it does, then I did not understand the post and humbly apologize.

I said every bit of advise is appreciated and I do mean that.

Have you ever heard the story about the guy who called his auto mechanic complaining that his interior lights were not working and the mechanic tells him, "now this might sound silly, but did you check the dimmer to see if it is turned all the way down?". He did and it turned out to be the problem? Silly, but it happens. No advise goes unappreciated. Sorry you feel unappreciated.

Moe ....... I'm Chilled

(I'm Quoting you:)

(now I'm quoting your last post:)

...................................................................

That small plastic ring that you know about , is referred to as "Mechanical" - Reverse Polarity Protection , preventing the negative end of a batt. from touching the contact in the head of the light.

It treats the Flat-top of an "AW" the same way , not allowing it to touch the terminal.

You know what RPP is , you just don't know all the ways it's achieved . It can also be a circuit .(in the light , not in the battery)

Now you can help spread the word to the next guy that asks.

See ya

Mike@PTS,

I recieved the battery yesterday and sure enough, it worked like a charm. :twothumbs:twothumbs:twothumbsThank you so much for sending me the battery. I am really impressed with your customer service and kindness. I cannot thank you enough. I wish there was some sort of service I could offer you in return for your deed, such as a review or something. I thought of singing your praises in a thread but I know this site is very touchy about advertisements and endorsements. But I will start with a thank you.

You are right, I was under the impression that the only way to achieve RPP was electronic. Seems redundant though that the very method of RPP prevents some batteries from working with RPP built in.

Now you can help spread the word to the next guy that asks.

Already have. There are some guys at work that I talk flashlights with and I could not wait to wow them with this info. Haha.

Again thanks for all the help fellow flashaholics.
