I just got first light on my 1st mod. An orginal CMG Infinity. All I can say at this point is WOW! I used a 1 Watt Luxeon LXHL-PW01 Lot # Q5K with a MADMAX Plus and Emitter board from the Sandwich Shop(Thanks Wayne). The emitter is glued to the board with Artic Alumina. I was very bummed out when I got the sandwich assembled and tested with a AA Alkaline. Very Dim it was so I tried it with a SF123A and it was very very bright. I knew this would not fit the Infinity body so I began the hogging out phase with my dremel. 5 unproductive hours later I discovered that I had used a nearly dead AA for testing. I then quickly cut the head to fit the sandwich, wrapped the NEW AA alkaline with some electrical tape to provide a fit in the hogged out body assembled and tested. Blindness only lasted for about 5 minutes. I still have some shaping work to do to the reflector, which has a diamond polished mirror finish, before I pot the sandwich with artic alumina. The emitter board provides ground against the inner surface of the head as well as heat sinking. It is brighter than the supposed 3 watt luxes from Hong Kong that are selling on e-bay. Throw is not going to be great but it lights an entire room from 10 feet away. I will try to get some pics posted next week.
OOPs, just looked at it again and can't see very well. I am hooked on moding now. No light in the house is safe anymore. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/happy14.gif

Well I just modded my first mod again. I finished hogging out the body for a CR123 instead of the AA. Brightness is up by 50 to 75 percent by my estimate. I now have a home for those "Dead" CR123's from my Surfire P6, At 2.3 to 2.5 volts they work great in the infinity. ( I used to use it to suck old AA's dry after they were too dim for my mini mag). Are there any issues with potting a madmax plus with artic alumina?
