1st Post - 1st and 2nd Mod (LEDBeam 3C & AAP 2C) and a Thank You

Hi All

Been a lurker for a while but decided to post a Thank You.

I did my first and second mod tonight on a LEDBeam 3C and AAP 2C. Thanks to LightHouse One for guiding me in the right direction and Photonfanatic for great customer service and advice on his products, and also to this forum for a lot of good reading on how to mod and great info on lights in general.

As for the mods - I upgrade both with Seoul P4. I had to pop off the emitter from a the stars for the LEDBeam cause I ordered wrong and for the other, the star went right in.

The results are great. On initial observation, the L2D-CE was about the same as the LEDBeam before the upgrade but now the Spot on the LEDBeam is much brighter than the L2D. The AAP-2C is now about the same brightness as the L2D. All this is with batteries on hand so no fresh juice for either.

Overall a great mod experience.

Your post is hiding away in a corner here, where not many people may see it, so I'm going to move it into 'Homemade & Modified' for you.

The downside of that is that you may get a few people demanding to see pics and more details of how you did your mods!

Good job...I've done quite a few SSC P4 led mods- and I'm always happy with the results. Once and a while- if you have to isolate the led base it can be a pain.

The same mod on the LEDBEAM 3C has been gnawing at me. Did you do any other mod than changing the LED? I was wondering if the SSC had a lower Vf and would be overdriven with the swap. Also, did you raise the LED on the pedastel? Thanks for your info.

I just changed out the LED at the same height as stock. I'm not sure about the about the Voltage. Light House one may know since he instructed me on doing this, I'm still learning about all this stuff.

I'm actually researching to see how and if it can modded to take 2x18650. It's probably a bad idea.. but it's fun looking.

Xonoid, 1X18650 would be the right voltage. 2X18650 in series is too much voltage. 2X18650 in parallel would be good.
