My Dad's or my grandfather's 3 cell (I think it's and Everready) next to my 80s 3 cell

Maglite I converted to LED.

That's an older light. Probably grandpa's. 3D was very popular in the day. Does the tailcap say what brand? I thought it was a Rayovac sportsman but the ones with vertical ribs had the badge riveted to the head.

I think I read somewhere that the 3D Maglite was the most popular too.

I didn't see the name on the end cap of the older light. As you can probably see from the picture the name is gone from the riveted plate on the body. Sometimes I imagine I see a letter ot two there but..... can't tell.
The Maglite was a gift from my dad to keep in my car....for safety.... in two ways!....it converted to LED very easily.
Converting the older one..... haven't attempted yet.....hoping to find a simple kit.....or just keep it original I guess.

There were different versions of the 'sportsman' flashlight over the years. But that for sure looks like a Rayovac Sportsman to me, but maybe not. Don't ask me the date. There were black/gold and green/red labels. (prolly more)

That name plate looks like it should read in the yellow/gold section, "Premium Grade" all caps. with the "ray O vac" logo underneath.
Beneath that in the black section states, "Sportsman" in gold on black and made in USA.

Just in case you might be able to read some of it.

Both torches are pretty cool!

Edit: sometimes the nameplates would only have "stainless steel" or something like that instead of 'Rayovac' or the model name.

A sportsman logo.

Ranger, Eveready, True Valu and Bright Star all had rectangle logo on the badge but they were black with silver letters. Some including the Rayovac had blank tailcaps.

Does it have a screw in bulb @PWRMX24 or a slide in bulb? Screw in is pre-1950's but the switch looks 1950's era.
