YES!! More people need get get their ticket!! 2 meter simplex with a good antenna and a 30-40-50 watt radio is gonna be 40-50 mabey 80-100 miles wit a high enough antenna.

Even if you don't go extra class when the world comes to an end and you have 2M you'll be talking to an HF operator in range and have info from around the world.

I believe Tech ticket also enabels you to operate 10 meter which is SSB and has good coverage with skip.

Yes - from 28.3 to 28.5

And guys - the General is NOT that much harder now that it's "no code" - get your tech, spend a few weeks more on QRZ taking your practice exams, and the General will almost fall in your lap

BTW I paid $14 for my license test and fee, I think that is standard...

plus the license is good for 10 years...

and then you can buy really cool gear. i own a yaesu vx-7r... nifty little thing.
