13. CPF Member of the Year
Please submit your vote for that special CPF Member, who through his contributions to the CPF Community, is deserved of recognition this year!

Just to clarify - the wording on this DOES NOT imply a gender bias does it? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: The 2003 LUMINESCENCE AWARDS: Cast your votes now!

Do we included the < and > in each field? Just want it to be clear!

PS - Isn't the answer to #12 pretty clear...

Re: The 2003 LUMINESCENCE AWARDS: Cast your votes now!

LEDmodMan,

The "<" and ">" symbols are not necessary.

Also, while the site your allude to won by a good margin, believe it or not, in 2002 there were some pretty healthy competition in the race for #12.

HTH!

Re: The 2003 LUMINESCENCE AWARDS: Cast your votes now!

Another thing, I would like to see a manufacturer honored that isn't a flashlight manufacturer, but makes the LEDs that so many here like. Which category would that be, or do we need another one?

Are we supposed to include our e-mail address somewhere in the e-mail?

Re: The 2003 LUMINESCENCE AWARDS: Cast your votes

a category for "favourite light emitting thingie manufacturer" would be nice, meaning LEDs or bulbs of any kind.

Re: The 2003 LUMINESCENCE AWARDS: Cast your votes now!

It is just me or does all of the retailer/manufacturer with or without website thing kind of get confusing and redundant? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

There is a manufacturer award (mod and not). But then there is also a manufacturer website award. Also there is a retail award, as well as a reatiler website award.

I'm not mad or angry or anything like that, but I'm getting awfully frustrated trying to figure this all out.

Can somebody please help me, or am I a lost cause? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Re: The 2003 LUMINESCENCE AWARDS: Cast your votes

Hmm that confuses me too. Maybe its for B&M/non-B&M outfits?

Re: The 2003 LUMINESCENCE AWARDS: Cast your votes now!

I thought the distinction was clear, but since it appears there may still be some confusion, let me attempt to clarify.

There is a big difference between a Manufacturer and Retailer.

A Manufacturer is the actual maker--factory and all--who produces the flashlight from parts or raw materials, then resells it in bulk either directly, or indirectly through distributors to the Retailer. The Retailer is the one, who in turn, stocks the item in his/her store, then resells it to the end user.

Example: Maglite and Streamlight are examples of a Manufacturer. Brightguy.com and Sears are examples of a Retailer.

Sometimes, a Manufacturer will sell direct to the end user, and sometimes a Manufacturer will exclusively sell direct. In this case, yes, a Manufacturer doubles as a Retailer--but this is not the norm.

Generally speaking, a Retailer is an entity which will carry multiple brands and/or category of products to sell to you the end user.

HTH!

Re: The 2003 LUMINESCENCE AWARDS: Cast your votes now!

Yeah, I'll probably end up no voting some of the catagories just out of newbieness. Another thing, is that they have a "favorite LED light" catagory without a "favorite incandescent" catagory. Either have both, or don't have either, imo. Racism against incandescents! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

My favorite retailer: www.ebay.com /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: The 2003 LUMINESCENCE AWARDS: Cast your votes now!

Question:
#1. should all of our votes be based on 2003 releases, buying experiences/customer services and website rennovations.. or are we voting for any product we happen to dig even if it's a 3 year old product?

#2. do we have to vote on every category?

Re: The 2003 LUMINESCENCE AWARDS: Cast your votes now!

1: if you're voting for a catagory such as "favorite edc flashlight", then vote on the flashlight
if your'e voting for a catagory such as "favorite manufacturer", then you can base that on service, products, quality, etc.
age does not matter. you can vote on a 1960s rayovac lantern if you like /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

2: no.

furthermore, the cpf staff is not eligable for votes in catagory #13.
so sorry guys, you can't vote for me /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: The 2003 LUMINESCENCE AWARDS: Cast your votes now!

Ryan,
Accord to Guncollector's 1st post, if there is a blank vote, you would still need to list down the number of that category and just put in 'No Vote' instead...

Wow... time to put my thinking cap on... i agree with Stockwiz on the Incan lights, how come there's no category for it?

Re: The 2003 LUMINESCENCE AWARDS: Cast your votes now!

oops. i already sent it in and left it blank.
*cough*
umm. some1 else was on my computer. umm.

Re: The 2003 LUMINESCENCE AWARDS: Cast your votes now!

As a recent member of the CPF, I'm not familiar with last year's results concerning runners-up. Will 2003 info extend to 2nd, 3rd, & 4th place winners? It would be interesting to know how statistics compare beyond only first place. Is this info available for past years? It may be too time consuming; just a thought.

Re: The 2003 LUMINESCENCE AWARDS: Cast your votes now!

I finally found the correct phrase for last years info (2002 Lummies). I'm assuming the other two choices listed below the winner are the 2nd & 3rd placers. Es correcto?
