Reading about the Olympics before it started, seems like Russians could compete but not as a representative of Russia?

We took gold in Women's freestyle wrestling, women's 100m hurdle, and Women's soccer. We still have a chance at the top spot

Men's high jump is nail-biting right now

China only one gold ahead of us right now. Men won 4x400 relay.
We took silver in high jump.

Record breaking win for women's 4x400 relay. Our 8th straight in the Olympics. That should tie us w/China.
That run was absolutely nuts, so far ahead of everyone else.

11 gold medals out of 25 for Track & Field. Not a bad showing.

Now for Basketball.

well events are over for today but usa is 1 medal behind in gold not sure how many golds we are competeing for tomorow but there isnt many events left but hey will will still win over all metals

They didn't let Russians compete? That's a shame. When they make rules like this, they must understand that not having the country's backing means they don't have their funding to get trained and get to the Olympics. It basically guarantees that nobody will show up with being able to say they weren't technically banned. I'm sure there are plenty of tough real Russian women that would have kicked butt in boxing. The Olympics are supposed to bring the nations together. I'd rather have nations compete in friendly competition and build relationships with other nations than have us go to war over the latest stupid thing. Athletes in Russia aren't to blame for Putin's actions. Many Russians are regretting the loss of McDonalds and many other western businesses that had to leave. They've suffered enough. They deserve better.
