Hi,

What do you think about a Malkoff with 21700 body? With the recent review of the Keeppower 21700, I think we can all benefit from an M6x or M9x running 21700(s). Or do you think 18650 is still the way to go, for now?

Argh! I don't know how to edit the poll. Thanks for pointing that out still! And for your thought as well 😉!

18650 is plenty, thanks. Cell development is still going strong, I don't need bigger single cell lights, and don't need to invest in another battery type/ecosystem. My two cents, your mileage may and probably will vary... :)

@archimedes: thank you!
@scout24: thanks for your thought! It is true we'll have to invest in a different battery, and possibly charger, type. I do hope Malkoff will allow a 21700 option in the near future.

Neither for me. I don’t consider 18650 compact personally and can’t imagine carrying a bigger light. I don’t even want to lug around my only 18650 light.

If Gene made 21700 compatible hosts, I'd be unlikely to buy any. The same goes for 26650, despite my initial enthusiasm when those plans were announced. I've invested in the 18650 platform and the 21700 does not represent enough increased capacity to justify the expense, not to mention the bulk.

Ok I get that most don’t want a bigger EDC light but that’s not what 21700’s are for. There for high output battery sucking Dropins. I for one would find it very comforting to be able to run my M91 for 3 hours if need be. Or a M61LL for days and days.I understand that a bigger battery choice is not for everyone but there is need for it. For some.

I understand both your points, although I'm leaning rather hard on the 21700 Malkoff version. My current desire is to have a 21700 M61HOT (MD2.5?). And I definitely see a bright future to the 2x21700 (MD5?)

The bigger lights would benefit from the 21700 cells. I would LOVE a 21700 Hound Dog.

I'm really surprised that some folks find an extra 1/8" larger in diameter and 1/5" longer too much for a capacity improvement from 3600mAh to 5000mAh, which is about an extra 39% in runtime!

I'd be happy to buy 1 and 2 cell 21700 bodies.

This is my thinking as well. I’m not sure I’d want my MD2 bigger but my bigger bodies? I think that work just fine. I don’t EDC my MD4 an as you say runtime would go WAY up.
