26650\'s available but $30 each!

I have a source for 21 lithium ion 26650 cylindrical cells- 26mm diameter, 65mm length, 25 amp max discharge, 3000 mah but they are $35 each or $30 each for 10 or more, so that's a little steep... They are too much for me since I need at least 4. Also, I just got some 18650's on ebay for less than $2 each...

But if you are rich and interested, these would be the perfect cell for high power applications (peak 100 watts!) or boost circuit designs since it takes such a huge drain. If anyone's interested I can get you in direct contact with him and give you all the info. He was/is a cpf member I believe but hasn't posted for some time.
Please email at [email protected] in case I forget to check this page for awhile. Thanks

Well his email is [email protected]. I can't find his cpf id anymore. I did a long lost cpf search a month ago that I forget now. I hope he's not choked that I gave out his email...

If you want 2150mAH 18650's they can be had for less than $11 each. They're much higher capacity than the ones on Ebay which I think are only 1200 or 1300mAH. The 2150mAH ones are also made by Panasonic. I've been extremely happy with mine as they've held up better than many other OEM type Li-Ions or ones pulled from battery packs. Don't forget that these SAFT cells (are they?) are optimized for other things than capacity. They are aimed at the very professional market.
So if you don't need this features, why pay for it?
I do have SAFT 5.5Ah LiIon cells and I'm very pleased with them.
And also when you compare them, don't forget, they are pretty conservative with their numbers...

Thanks CM for a very good link- I wish I had found this source earlier...!

Yes, some cells are designed for high drain, some for capacity.

At the moment, I will try to adapt the 18650's I got from ebay for awhile. They were overall $4 each but only 1200mah capacity likely...

Are these 2200ma Pany's for $8.70($12 shipping though) any better?

, or for a little more from a flakey operation that refuses to answer e-mails to your application questions, LG branded (but probably made in China now, as will be the new Saphion II safer Li-phosphte 1600ma 18650's from Valence) from batterspace.com at $10 that have claimed 2400ma capacity, only 5A max discharge though? There are numerous more properties which are important to one user and useless to the other. And you pay for that when buying SAFT cells.

5A is quite good for a non Li-polymer 18650 cell. There are some others around which get pretty hot at less than 2A.
