2C Mag Option: NiMH w/ BadBoy or LiIon w/ DownBoy?

Hi all, I posted something similar (but more general) in the Homemade section but since most of my parts seem to come from here I guess I'll ask here (and I'm a little more familiar with the converter boards available here too). While sticking to NiMH cells, are there any other options for my 2C mag than a luxeon I/III with a badboy/madmax board? Or is that pretty much the best I can get if I want to keep the 2C and stick with NiMH cells? Thanks!!

EDIT: Ok, I've done a bit of research, and it looks like I'll either go with a BadBoy step-up regulator and 2xNiMH (using AA to C adapters so about 2400mAh) with a Luxeon 3 or 2x18500 LiIon cells (also using the adapters at about 1400mAh) for a Lux V with a downboy. Which would be better (in terms of runtime and brightness)... does the 1400mAh capactiy of the 18500 cells inhibit the potential at all? Also, does anybody know good places to get 18500 cells? I've only seen slavin4u.com and batteryspace.com. Thanks!!

Re: 2C Mag Options from the Shoppe

The only other possibility might be switching to 1/2C or SubC cells to power a BadBoy and a 5w LuxV.

Since you want to stick with NIMH I guess the idea of 3x123 or 4x123 to power a LuxV and a DownBoy are out?

Re: 2C Mag Options from the Shoppe

The only thing is that I would prefer to use rechargeable batteries. I have a bunch of NiMH cells around and the rechargeable 123 cells don't really have that much capacity to drive a lux V for very long either. I'm looking around at 1/2 C cells though to try out (could fit 4 in series for around 4.8 volts which would be enough for a badboy and a lux v I think though which might work). I've no problem with the LiIon cells but it is a bit of a hassle to worry about protection circuits, etc, though from what I've found I could use two 18500 cells in the 2C body to provide 7.4 volts of power with about 1400mah of power which should drive a lux 5 with a downboy for a bit...
