2D Magled Heatsink?

If I made a heatsink for my magled, would it still dim after a few minutes? Is the dimming controlled by time or heat. Does the circuit detect heat or, is the led dimming because it is too hot?
Thanks,
Mike

There is a temperature sensor inside the bulb that causes the LED to dim to prevent overheating. Heatsinking the LED will cause it to maintain maximum brightness, but it will cut into the runtime -- the MagLED uses considerably more power when it is "cool" and running at maximum output.

This part replaces the plastic bulb-holder pedestal, and is made out of aluminum, so it will create a heatsinking pathway for LEDs. It will allow you to have both heatsinking, and the cam focusability. It costs $16 for the first, $10 for each additional. (It will also help the light survive the heat from high power incan mods, so it may be worth buying two if you later decide to do a hotwire mod like ROP)

There was a thread that was started by Newbie where he opened up the magled module. He discovered that the circuit reduces the current to the led as the temperature rises to prevent the led from being damaged.

ahhh, found it: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=119665

This is all I got when I tried that link.

Thanks anyway. You answered my question.

2XTrinity,
I saw that.
I am a machinist. I was going to write a program and let the machining center make that for me.
Thanks,
Mike
