Has your 3-LED Matterhorn failed? I wonder if this is a rare problem.

I have two 3-LED aluminum Matterhorns, one High Power and the other Ultra Power.

After using the High Power 3-LED Matterhorn for about 7 weeks, it suddently went very dim. All 3 LEDs glow, but the entire light is now considerably dimmer than my 1-LED Matterhorn. Current consumption is now down in the 25 - 50 mA range instead of 70 mA.

I cleaned the threads and the positive terminal and tried different AAA batteries (e2 lithium and alkaline) and different bodies without success.

I bought the light from a CFP member who said it was new, so the Peak factory warranty probably doesn't apply.

My 3-LED Ultra Power Matterhorn still works fine, but I have barely used it.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

Hello Parnass,

I would suggest you contact Peak to see what they have to say.

Mine is working fine and has seen heavy use.

Ditto that, mine has been on for the equivilent of many days, and that little 3LED torch just keeps on kicking. Even been through the washer a few times. Contact Peak and they will set you up.:twothumbs

I had mine in my pocket every day for over a year and never had a problem, would still be using it if it did not dissapear with the attached Micra when I loaned it to my Mother-In-Law. Where it is at now nobody knows.

I love the brass lights and Peak has a good rep, they will probabily work with you to make it right.

Had been hoping for the past two years that Peak would make a multi-power version (Like millermods) but gave up yesterday and ordered a LF2.

Thanks for the comments. I have been reluctant to contact Peak because I didn't purchase the now failed 3-LED Matterhorn directly from them.

Got another Arc AAA-P in the meantime to ease the grieving. :)

Contact them anyway to see what they have to say before taking a hacksaw to it like I know you want to. :)

I have the high power version in HAIII on my keys and it works like a mother...

I put an Energiser lithium in it shortly after a I bought it (going on a year now) and I cannot believe the power from this light.

Never had a moment's trouble with it....

The end to this story is that I sent the broken 3-LED Matterhorn head to Peak and they replaced it.

My thanks to Peak for backing their product.
