Iam unsure which route to take with my lightforce, striker 170 hid conversion ? also, what choice of bulb, i have seen h3, h4, and d2s, please help.

Thanks but the link doesnt seem to be working,,, i have seen a few past threads on here as regards the lightorce conversions, one has used the h3 one h4 and another a d2s, also some have said the 35w hid conversion is great , others have said dont bother with it go for a 55w hid conversion, so iam stuck between two decissions.
For the hunting we use these lights for we use a 12v 12amp sla battery on a shoulder sling, the battery has 1meter power cord, would it be ok to mount the ballast onto or next to the battery making a neat little power unit or does the balast have to be as close to bulb as possible within the circuit ? iam new to all this as you will have noticed i appologise if i have asked any obviousy simple questions, just trying to improve on the 100w halogen setup via throw and run time, any info much appreciated.

Thanks for posting this...
I am in a very similar situation. I have a couple halogen spotlights and want to convert them to HID. Although my application doesn't require the ballast to be very far from the lamp.

I know I'm bring back an old thread (especially as my first post). However I'm considering doing an HID conversion on some LF lights (likely the 240, possibly some 170's). But I want to use 50w HIDs instead of the 35w.

Other than buying the lights (I don't have them yet), and then buying some 50w ballasts/bulbs after the fact, it would just be cheaper to do the conversion. Has anyone taken apart the HID LF lights to see how easy it would be to upgrade the light to a 50w one (or higher)? Also what risk is there of damage to the reflector using a higher watt light in there?

Thoughts?

However I'm having issues finding the adapters to go from the halogen lights to the HID bulbs. I don't have the tools to follow the instructions posted in the link above.
