Hi all,
I need to find someone to cut and re-thread a 3c mag to run
2x26650 cells for a P7 build. I will be using a driver and want the extra runtime of the 4000mAh cells. any help is appreciated.

Marc

Why not instead use a 2c stock mag with an FM wide/deep tailcap? It fits 2 x 18650, so theoretically could also fit 2 x 26650 cells with no modding.

If you have a new 3C Mag you have to get it bored to fit the IMR 26650 cells. A 3C will have a lot of room to be cut off the top too, or you will end up with a super long spring:ohgeez:

If you look in the Market place or on Ebay if you see a Mag with a numerical serial number with no letters they are IMR compatible.

Good luck,
bigC

Nope, that won't work. It fits the length of the 18650s wonderfully, but it can't possibly be wide enough inside for 26650 or the threaded part would probably come right off. Not enough wall thickness...

I'd just use the 3C, though you will need it bored. You may not even need a spacer, but if you do that is easy enough to whip up. Bonus of doing it that way is that everything is more or less reversible, so you could always switch over to 3 C cells in that host if you want to try something different in the future.

Thanks. I was thinking of using that strategy myself, but since the cells won't actually fit into the tailcap, I won't bother to order it.

I also found a c-cell extender AW used to sell for his C cell li-ons. They are available from lighthound and may work to fit 2 x 26650's if two are used together. Not sure of the length though.

Extension tube will allow you to use 25530 or protected "C" cells.
26mm diameter cells won't fit inside extension and there is not enough material to bore it out. For same reason, can't make deep tap to accomodate 26mm diameter cell.
To fit 2x26650 inside "C" M*g, best way is cut off 3C M*g, rethread and bore out to accept 26mm cells.
For even longer run time (7.4 volt, 5200mAh), another choice is double bore 2.5D M*g to use 2S/2P 18650 (2.6)

I'm not fan of the d size, i like the feel of the c size better. I plan on using a 3c but am having trouble finding someone to cut and re-thread.

Shoot me a PM or email. I can cut it down and bore it if necessary for you.
