Recently bought my first arc4+ second. Now I'm hooked on led. I have a 3D mag that is crying for a mod. Being a newbie I'm not to sure what would work best. I'm thinking 3 or 5 watt DD on a homemade heat sink. Does this sound reasonable? I guess I'm looking for suggestions. I saw advertised a bulb replacement by EverLed, How do they compare? They seem simple enough. Fit in the original base. But how bright are they? My guess is not very. Questions, Question, Questions

a lux3 is a perfect solution for a 3d mag.

direct drive of 3-d's drives the luxeon overdriven, but at "safe" levels.

the everleds are nice, but can't possibly be as bright as a well heatsunk overdriven led /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

i atepted a mag mod but i still dont have aa expoxy and my heatsink was kinda well riged up but worked lol dont ask one i used. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Sounds like a DD proposition to me too. Actually, it's a no brainer. With the stock reflector, you'd be hard pressed to find a light that could outperform it.

stick with the DD mod...it's cheaper and much brighter.
run time isn't much of an issue with D's

Thanks guys for your input. A "DD" it shall be. I have a Hotlips on order. Should be here any day now. Also on the list for a sputtered reflector from Darkzero Way down the list. I'll post comparitive beam shots when all the parts are together.

cheers,
