Hey folks,

I've got a thread over in the custom modified lights section, but I thought I'd mention over here that my 3M 9882 Thermally conductive adhesive transfer tape came in the mail today. I have way more than I need, so if anybody has a good test setup and wants to test this stuff out and post their findings, I'd be happy to try to get some to you.

I also have some TC-2810 thermally conductive epoxy, but I don't know how I would ship that, it is a 2-part epoxy. Anyways, once I find a camera I will build my light and report how it goes. In the mean time, here's some datasheets for you!

Hi there,
I would like to try some of this tape out. I would be happy to pay you for some.

Hey there, McGizmo!

I've been browsing through your Maui Pics thread, amazing! I feel like I go swimming with Friendly all the time! Right now I can send you some adhesive tape. I've not opened the epoxy yet. The thermal tape is 1 inch wide. How long of a piece do you need? Perhaps you can send me a nice looking piece of dead coral or something as payment? It would be cool to have a piece of Hawaii =)

bshanahan14rulz,

Can you send me an e-mail and we can work something out? I think I could get some good experience with a couple inches of the tape if you can spare it. Anymore, I am convinced that the best solution for mounting the LED's is to surface mout them with solder paste or reflow but there are applications and test pieces where this is not practical as well as some situations where you want good thermal passage and no electrical path included. Seems like the tape would be a great component to have in your bag of tricks!

Got it and thanks! Now I need to find the time and right application to give this stuff a road test! Thanks!

If you still have some left over tape, I would love to test it, and I of course will be more than happy to pay for shipping and to cover cost of the material as well ;)

Will
