This may be a question for Mirage_Man or some other machinist, but can a 2C M*g fit 3 SubC Cells if the spring is remover/shortened? I don't have 3 SubC cells to try, and don't want to order them until I can verify they will fit.

My goal is to build a couple 2C M*g's using 3 Elite 4000 SC cells welded in sticks to power the SCC P7.

I tried to use the search function, but 3 letter words don't work.

Thanks for the help!

O.K. I did find a little info from an OLD thread from 2003:
3 Sub C's will fit into a Nordic 2C because the talicap cavity is wide enough. this can't be done in a Mag C light.

But I'd like to hear from someone who CAN make them fit, possibly boring out the tail cap a little, or adding a AW M*g ring...

What are the possibilities?

I use a dremel cutting bit to bore the tail cap out when building 2c p7's. They fit easily after that. Ends up being a pretty sweet light. Takes a while though.

I have one of Matt's 3SC/2C builds. Tenergy 3800 SC's fit, but Tenergy 4500 SC's are ever so slightly wider and I need to bore the tailcap out further to fit them. There's probably enough metal left to do that. Elite 5000 SC's are both wider and longer than the Tenergy 4500's. I don't know if i can bore the tailcap out enough for them. On top of that, there's just enough of a button on top of the Tenergy cells that I can get away with out magnets or solder blobs. The Elites will require help for end-to-end contact, thus making the stack even longer. According to the specs at CheapBatteryPacks, the Elite 4000 SC's are even longer than the Elite 5000's. Good luck.

For now, I just use a small Mag C tube extension and a deep tailcap (for recessing the spring) I got from fivemega and all my SC's fit fine.

Matt,
I've got 3 sc's in my 2C. I had to bore the cap and don't use a spring at all. I put a piece of solid copper wire, maybe 20 awg, in the bottom of the cap. I suppose I could have left a small raised nipple in the bottom of the cap for contact.

The spring from a minimag works well too.
