Thank you for the speedy response! It seems that I need to rethink my plans. I know overdriving a maglite 3 cell xenon bulb makes a nice quality light; would adding one of your deep reflectors make a difference in throw for this bulb? I ask because it's not a high power bulb like an 1185 or the ROP hi.

Darn looks like i'm a little late to the party here. Any plans on re-running these? I need at least a 8AA-2D serial holder and likely a 12AA-3D serial holder too.

+1, especially for 8AA-2D and 12AA-3D serial holders. I've been wanting to do a non-lithium MT-G2 2D Mag and a regulated 1185 for some time now but I'm always too late when they pop up on CPFMP.

I am not sure how to interpret the first post. I have a 4D Mag. Is this a "quad"? And if so, will a 16AA to 4D fit this Mag?
I dont have my Vernier calliper at home so i have not had the time to meassure it yet.

Also, i see that there is a voltage cap at 19.2V. If i put 16 Sanyo NiMH i wil get 22.4V, will this be OK?

When he says "Quad or all the way bored" he is speaking about a modification done to Maglite D sized bodies to facilitate the use of the battery holders sold in this thread.

Your D sized Maglite MUST be modified to use these battery holders.

Look at the first picture in this thread for an example of Maglite channel boring (Quad bore - This is done to make room for the batteries to slide into the light).

The owner of that thread modifies Mags if you want that done.

Another method is "all the way boring" which involves boring the entire diameter of the mag body (without removing threads) to achieve the some goal.

Unless you mag has undergone either of these modifications you can't use these battery holders.
