I can understand your excitement in the light. It is worth the wait.
As a side note the new Dorcy 3AAA light I've seen at the Target store looks like it has the same reflector as the ALX. I think I'll have to go to Target and get a Dorcy to really look at the reflector.
Another deep dish reflector is the Nuwai ALX-816A that GOLDEN GADGETS sell. It is a bigger 6AAA batteries in a 3-volt, parallel batteries, set up. Golden Gadgets sell the light at Ebaby for $29.99. The 816A stock emitter is a 1-watt Luxeon with a whiter emitter than the original ALX-1113A had. But the 816A emitter is still a problem. While the emitter center is white the ring around the beam is pucky green. I'm going to swap out the 1-watt emitter for a decent 3-watt emitter since that would be easy. If the light looks decent I'll stop there since the electronic regulator in the 816A works very well. But if the emitter is not bright enough I'll consider modding the light to direct drive.
4sevens, have you thought about modding the 816A? I suspect with the exception of more AAA batteries in it the light is the same as the 1113A.
