Hi, does anyone know and use the 5 Watt Luxeon Star LED Handtorch Flashlight; Is is a good choise?
How many minutes alsts the battery with max power?
thanks

I am undecided if I will buy a SureFire M2 or a 5 Watt Luxeon Star LED.
In you opinion has the 5 Watt Luxeon Star LED worth like the SureFire?
How many minutes alsts the battery with max power?
thanks

"5 Watt Luxeon Star LED" is not a brand, but a type of Luxeon emitter. The SureFire (SF) L4 has one of these, for example. Lots of other lights use this emitter too. Don't expect much more than 1 hour runtime on max brightness on these puppies.

Yes the SureFire has one of these but isn't so bright.
In your opinion what would you buy between a SureFire M2 and "5 Watt Luxeon Star LED", please?
thanks

It sounds like Adriano is talking about the Nuwai ALX-352L but since I'm not sure, I'll wait before commenting.

I think so since he posted a thread comparing the M2 (3?) to the ALX something-something.

Yes, I mean Nuwai ALX-352L and I'd like to know your advice.
The Surefire C2 is better and brighter?
thanks

OK. Here goes.

Surefire C2: Incandecent
Nuwai ALX-352L: Lux-V LED

Surefire C2: P61, 20 minutes to 50% slowly dimming
Nuwai ALX-352L: Almost as bright, 60 minutes on high (one of 3 levels) regulated before instantly shutting off. If you wait a minute after it shuts off, you can quickly flip to the low setting and use the light a little longer.

Surefire C2: Momentary with twist on/off
Nuwai ALX-352L: No momentary, 3 levels of light (high/med/low) with a 4th function of strobe (blink)

Surefire C2: Has throw
Nuwai ALX-352L: throws about 60% as far as the C2 but has more throw than almost any other Lux-V (except for an Aleph 3)

It depends on what you want from a flashlight. If you want throw, get the C2. If you want brightness with runtime, get a Nuwai ALX-352L. If you need momentary, get the C2. If you want to run 2 rechargeable R123's, get the Nuwai.

I hope that helps you make your decision.

Jeff

Jeff, thanks very much for your detailed reply.
Can you tell me if Nuwai ALX-352L is like to L5 LumaMax?
What do you like more?
thanks

Do you mean Aleph 3 is better than SureFire C2?
Thank you

I have just done a search for Aleph 3 but I don't understand its length. Is it smaller than SureFire C2?
How many minutes lasts its throw with teo batteries?
thanks

The SureFire L5 is bigger and will throw well too. It only has one level of output while the Nuwai light has three. It sounds like the Nuwai shuts off completely when the batteries run down. The L5 will probably still produce minimal light at that point.

The L5 is better made and has a much better protective finish. If three levels of output don't matter to you, and money isn't a concern either, buy the L5.

If you want real throw, can get by with two levels of output and have the extra $$$, look for an Aleph3 with 3 watt luxeon installed in it (one with a 5 watt Luxeon installed will be brighter but won't throw as far). The protective finish is almost as good as SureFire's and much better than the Nuwai.

If you are on a budget buy the C2 and change your batteries every 15 minutes or so to maintain maximum output. And buy extra lamp assemblies too because unlike LEDs, the incandescent lamps can break if you drop the light.
