I just noticed that Wayne at ELEKTRO LUMENS lists two new flashlights, both using a single white 5-watt luxeon star (120 Lumens!). A 5-D version and a 6-AA (in a 2-D holder). ...and I just ordered a 1-watt last week! Let me know if anyone has one of these...(now how can I save up some more money!!) Electro Lumens/5-watt

I have a 5W cyan mod (using a BB660 driver and a Surefire turbo-head body) that's definitely the brightest LED light I currently own, but I don't have anything in white yet.

I like the Blaster VI.

If one were to run lithium AA's instead of alkalines (for long shelf life) would they over-drive this light?

10.8V initially? Might be a bit much. It's coming with a 3x123 holder right now.

Just got mine in and it's roughly as bright as a Streamlight Stinger, nominally a 6W incandescent, maybe a tad more since the batteries are freshly charged. So, not super efficient, but pretty damn amazing for an LED light! I love the square beam, too.

Blaster VI draws 600mA off 3x123 measuring 2.9V ea. open circuit (they're supposed to be brand new, GE/Sanyo cells). But that comes to 4.8W (assuming ~8V under load), so that's about right for a 5W LED.
