Hi I'm looking for a torch with a throw of over 600m, needs to have at least 2 hours runtime and be under £150.00

I currentl havea nitecore ea8 and a trustfire 8500 lumen and am pleased with both, but would like something with a bit more range.

I was thinking the Fenix TK61

Thanks

Matt

Matt, I don't have one, but those who do, seem to like it. However while it has an impressive 170,000 cd, that is not enough to make a difference at 600 meters. Yes... it'll reach 825 meters, but with only 0.25 lumens. and 412 meters with one lumen. Really at 600 meters I'm guessing that you need an increase of 4 lumens to be able to SEE it. So you'd need 600x600x4 or 1,440,000 cd.

IIRC a vinh modded TK61 puts out 622k cd.

I'm sure someone will correct my math, but I don't think you are anywhere near close in your expectations, or budget.

You might find this thread an interesting read.

Or better yet, see ven's response post #2 in this thread.

Personally I have the TK61vn on order and I have heard it does very well up to .8 of a mile. Now, whether you can perfectly see what is .8 of a mile away is unlikely.

Chances are you want a thrower with that capacity, but you don't need one.
I would recommend the TK61vn because it is currently the throw king (at least for the dollar value). It only set me back something like $270, but that was de-domed with PDT. You can get it cheaper.

Good luck.

tk61 for me,or better still tk61vn as the de-dome doubles the throw and power boosted to over 1730 ANSI
Standard box shows 824m but as pointed out, depends on how much detail you need to see along with how good your eyes are

Just finding a spot with that distance without any light pollution or mist is proving very difficult for me

Good thing with the tk61 is you get usable flood too, fenix are a good solid brand, well priced imho too.
On the right tk61vn next to the tk75vn to show size

shows close up spill

Furthest pic i could manage on average equipment set on auto in mist........220m

This is a 150m in mist zoomed in a little, camera auto adj so dulls it down, also mist/fog too otherwise as poppy said your looking at around 1.4km at 622kcd

Sure vinh will be getting more tk61vn in at some point,if he does and you get one..........you will be blown away:)

Its simply amazing what it puts out and how far,i am yet to test its full capabilities...........

:welcome:

TN32 and TK61 and for example the Barracuda are great lights, but no stock version will reach usable 600 meters....
Manufacturer specs are based on 0,25 lux, to little light for most situations....

If you really want 600+, go for a modded light (without manufacturer warranty) or HID (which is more expensive)

I have the TK61 and try to post beamshots this week, so far I've seen, it has usable light till max 400 meters

+1:popcorn: i am just imagining a Grizzlyvn:D as it kicks out 2700lm to start with................

The new throw king is on the horizon imo

Edit- iirc it can be a pita for vinh on some armytek lights,so i will hold on the potential throw king for now

I don't know if vinh will be able to do much to improve this.
I think that it has to be driven at almost 4000ma to get 2700 LED lumens out of a MT-G2

True, but he is a genius and managed 3500lm out of the mt-g2 on the tn35

May get more,i think getting in the lights can be the problem from previous reading on the armyteks
