So I was at Cabela's today and they had the XPG Performances Heads in the Bargain Bin without packaging. So i pulled out my 6p and checked the threads. They lined up perfectly and worked great.

They sell these next to the Surefires and Cabela's lights in the camping section.

The only thing that was required with my particular setup was that the + (positive) spring must be stretched about 1-2mm. With primaries it worked fine without stretching.

I got home and put together this:

Surefire 6p
2x 1 Cell Adapters
Leef Grip
2x 17670's
XPG Performance Head (9 Volt)

Looks good! I am a bit curious on how it all goes together though. Is the head and bulb all one part? Or does a drop-in fit in there somewhere? It just seems like it would be hard to change the bulb if it went :poof:

And to perhaps save some one some time here are the heads on their webpage.

I've been using one of these for a while (9V on 2 RCR123), much better throw than stock or LF D26 bulbs.

The lamp assembly is an integrated bulb and reflector (like a P60), the bezel unscrews from the head, and the LA then unscrews from the bezel, so they are separate.

The reflector diameter is about 40.8mm, and the bezel diameter is 43mm.

Okay, who will be the 1st to come up with an led drop-in to fit this bezel?

I would be happy with just a reflector that would accept the D26 pills. That way you could lego in which ever emitter / bulb you wanted. Thinking of buying a head anyway though. :)

Cool find,Thanks for the scoop.

As has been said, might make a good host for a multi-chip LED mod.

excellent idea on the multi led module. I would love to see how that thing can throw. I just hope that the reflector is built for an led emittance as well. Which could be tricky to get focused properly.

Is the head you bought the
6 volt (85 Lumen), 9 volt (165 Lumen) or the
12 volt (240 Lumen)???

Sorry. As I reread your post it appears to be the 9 volt.

Just adding info I hope you guys can use.

G&P used to make an LED head that looks exactly like that. It came with a 5 watt Luv (and donut hole to match).

When I got mine I ordered this Seoul dropin from DX
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4068

I unscrewed the base and screwed it into the base of the G&P reflector and it was a perfect fit. It worked like a charm until the LED died last week (angry blue).

The heads seem to be on sale here.

Hope that helps

Thanks, Rommul. That looks like a great setup to go on one of the 2x18650 bodies I picked up recently. I wonder if one of my R2 DX drop-ins would work with that?

I have SOME advice on this.

When I ordered from DX I got some cree dropins as well as the one Seoul. The crees all had what seems like a brass base while the Seoul has an aluminum base. The Seoul base screwed in fine while the crees don't seem to be able to. They both have the same threadingbut the Seoul has a flat base while the cree's have the LED mounted in a recess in the top of the base.

Just thought I would throw that out there.

Rommul, how did your setup compare to other LEDs you have used? Was it more of a thrower or flood or was it just more(or less)?

Its a little bit of a thrower. A rudimentary ceiling bounce test reveals that my Seoul in my Malkoff in a Mag head to have a wider beam than the Seoul in my G&P at the same distance.

My impression of most Seoul lights is that they are floodier. This G&P throws decently but I percieve it not be as throwy as any of the Cree lights I have used.

Its more of an in between.

Sorry to hijack this thread and keep asking Rommul questions so I'll try to stop after these questions.

Rommul, besides being modified different (and therefore cool :twothumbs) does your setup have any qualities that make it preferable to a standard P60 size bezel and LED drop-in? Or better yet, if you needed an LED setup now, which way would you go?

Right now I would go with a a Malkoff M60. I really like my G&P though it does give any specific advantages.

The throw on this light is just incredible. It seems to have all the throw with plenty of flood. I would say that it is the light that I have been looking for for some time.

allburger, can you post more pictures of the head & lamp assembly? This looks very promising. I'm going to be picking 1 up.
