Hi I'm new to the forum and i was wondering if there is any type of colored plastic i could use to protect against 808nm light before i buy some real goggles? thanks /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Do you really want to risk your vision on a cheap piece of plastic? Laser light is really dangerous to your vision and IR (808nm) is especially so because you can't see or even feel your eye getting fried. Spend a hundred bucks or so and get a decent set of goggles, your eyesight is worth it believe me.

if you had to ask, i wouldnt advise tampering with something you know very little of and risk permanent eye damage/injury.

Welcome LukeL to CPF, hope you stay a while.

Please read the sticky ontop of all threads. You should find some good googles from any of those sources offering protection googles.

There will be no dicussion about alternatives as there are no true alternatives to a tested protection google!
