Hey guys,

I am new to the forum and a newly confirmed flashaholic. I hope I have posted this in the right place. I have had a 9P for several years and would love to use it more, but the 3 lithium batteries are a bit much. Can anyone tell me if there are options to help me make the light more practical for frequent use. I appreciate your comments and suggestions.

Hi and Welcome waumpuscat. There are a number of things you can do. Arizona Gun Runners has the conversion kit to change over to a rechargable. Or, buy lots of batteries. Cheapbatteries or Zbatt(sp?) has quanity buys for as little as $1.50(last time I looked). Heck, AGR has them for $140 for the 72 pack and that's the Surefire brand.

That's all I can think of for now. Good luck.

You can get a dummy battery & a P60 bulb to get a good light output for an hour on 2 batteries. Or you can convert to a rechargeable, but it'll be a 6R (6V), not the 9V you have now. Or as previously mentioned, buy batteries in bulk. My last purchase cost $1.62 each. Beats the heck out of $6+ at Walmart. TX

Thanks you guys for the info. I love being apart of the forum. This is very helpful and changes things quite a bit. Thanks for all of your help.

Hi,

I just got a great deal on batteries. $293 shipped 2nd day air for 400 Duracell DL123's. That works out to 73cents a battery. 400 will last me a couple of years!

I have a conversion kit to make my 9P into a 6P for more discreet carry. There are sooooo many ways to configure the 6P/9P series. A necessity is the shock isolated bezel for $16 to protect the lamp if it drops. Also the lockout tailcap is essential too. Good luck and have fun with your 9P!

I hear you can use 2 AA batteries, lithium or normal I am not sure, and replace the 3 123 batteries with that. Of course you would have to use a 3 volt lamp module, but that would make it cheaper to run. You would have to do something so the AA's didn't rattle, such as wrap them with paper or make an insert or something.

Just thought I'd pop that in, forgot who I heard it from and don't really have time to search.

Flexmodem,

Where do you get the accessories that you mentioned? I love this light and have had it for some time but have not used it because I just didn't know about this battery situation. By the way, you wouldn't want to sell about a dozen of those 123's would ya? Thanks much for the information
Phil

Sure I can part with a doz batts. I should be getting them shortly. I burn through 12 batteries in less than an hour sometimes using the M6. The Shock Isolated bezel can be had at http://www.arizonagunrunners.com

You can also get the 6P/9P conversion tubes there also. It's really convenient if you carry a Spares carrier that holds 6 batteries and a spare lamp.

For instance, you can have the 9P setup and in your spares carrier you can have the P60/P61 bulb. Switching to a 6P just as easy as taking out an extention tube and replacing the lamp. Takes about 25 seconds. Voila.
