I'm not sure which one to get, what are the advantages or disadvantages of the 9x14500 vs. 9AA to 3D NiMH?
Looking for the brightest what is the best bulb to get?

14500 is a lithium battery. The Nimh is a regular rechargeable AA battery. Lithiums are 3.7 volts while NiMh are 1.2 volts.

Lithium ion batteries are more expensive but have very low self discharge and you don't need to top off very offen.
If you use the flashlight a lot and more offen, NiMH batteries will serve you better othervise Lithium ions are smart choice.
Brightest bulb option for 9x14500 or 9AA to 3D is WA1185

Or if you don't mind a little sacrifice of brightness, you could go with the new Eneloop NiMH cells. They have a very slow self discharge rate too. If you live in the US, you could get them for around 12 dollars for 4, shipped. Indeed, given our logarithmic sight, the drop in brightness wouldn't be very noticeable.
