Boots a bit tight?
Depending on where there are 2 types of affordable stretchers (and professional kind that cost way more).
First off, there are various stretcher chemicals you spray in or rub in. I use Cadillac spray in. That stuff works and it's about $8. One way to do it is spray it inside the boot and walk around while it's still wet for a custom stretch. The leather will loosen in those tight places to the shape of your foot.
The other is spray it and insert a mechanical stretcher. Let sit overnight and the next day your boot is larger.
For the issue with it being too tight across the toes you want a stretcher that opens up horizontally.
Note the bunion issue reliver pads that come with it.
And if it's too tight across the top of your foot the kind that opens up vertically.
Note the remivable extra expansion points.
There is one huge issue with this kind though. Not top left in the photo.
As you crank the tool it wants to slide back toward the heel. Lots of reviews at Amazon complain that it doesn't work because it slides away from the front.
You simply insert a piece of wood or similar on each side of the tool and it stays in place. In my case I used a D cell Maglite in the boot I was stretching.
Shows how a 2x3 piece of wood fits nicely. Better than a D cell Maglite.
I had purchased a pair of nice boots but my right foot is a bit larger than my left and it began to feel tight across the top near my ankle. I sprayed the inside at the area it was tight with Cadillac spray then inserted the tool. About 4 hours later the issue was resolved. Without the stretcher spray it did not work as well nor anywhere near as quickly.
If your boot has ankle bite the stretcher spray helps with that too. Just soak the area inside the boot and insert a ball bat or similar into the boot and run it up and down the area applying force toward the outside.
