Re: a NEW amilite

Interesting.....I have a T5 that is a very good light.....

"Cuty" looks good and I prefer the twisty; I also prefer 2 levels.

I purchased directly from Amilite and had no issues....I don't believe that they
have distribution.

Re: a NEW amilite CREE Q5

Just recently got a T5 Bizman, Love it. Still glad I got the T5 and not this new one, I like the tail switch and 2 levels, and all the spill.

Looks like this new one will be real brite, though.

Re: a NEW amilite CREE Q5

I found some pictures of AmiLite Cuty-XRE in Korean flashlights forums.
They write that the brightness of AmiLite is wonderful and
it is one of the smallest and brightest CR123 or RCR123 lights available in the market.

Re: a NEW amilite CREE Q5

they have cr2 version as well.
if only the circuit can take rcr cell .
Amilite quality is very good, and previous models have been very well received here. However, if the past is anything to go by, it is NOT advisable to use Li-Ion rechargeables in them.

Their specs and user instructions for previous models were quite clear on this point, that Lithium primaries only should be used, and that higher voltages would damage the light.

However, many people chose to disregard this, used Li-Ions, and then seemed surprised when after a few hours of extra bright output, their emitters turned brown and burned out.

Re: a NEW amilite CREE Q5

I have modded my T-3 with a Cree XR-E. I still use the original Amicom driver, and I always use 3.6V Li-Ions. It puts out just over 1000mA. I've never had a problem. However, It does get hot, so I don't use it for more than a few minutes at a time. It is my WOW light, and my "dress light", not my workhorse.

Re: a NEW amilite CREE Q5

AmiLite comments that both AmiLite Cuty-XRE and Cuty-CR2 are OK on 3.6 ~ 3.7 V rechargable. But, it gets hot fast when using rechargable due to the small body.

Re: a NEW amilite CREE Q5

I was looking at the Cuty, but it's the same dimensions as the 123 version, except 6mm shorter. The diameter is the same. I guess I was hoping it would be less. Is it worth the 6mm to get half the runtime?

Re: a NEW amilite CREE Q5

I have the T5*2. I much prefer the two-stage clicky over a twisty.

I loved my Fenix P1 until I bought the Amilite. The T5 goes everywhere I do. It fits my hand better.

I agree with another poster, for it's size I love the flood. It's nice seeing more of the scenery for a change compared to the throwers I have.

The Amilite T5*2 in my pocket and the Fenix L0D Q4 on the keychain is a good pairing, for now. ;)

Re: a NEW amilite CREE Q5

The diameters of head are same, but the CR2 battery tube is slimmer as well as 6 mm shorter.

Re: a NEW amilite CREE Q5

How much bigger is the AmiLite Cuty XRE than a Fenix P1D CE?.

edit: i did find it.

AmiLite Cuty XRE
Dimensions :
21.6 mm(D) x 69 mm(L) (Head:21.6 mm) : 0.85"(D) x 2.71"(L) (Head:0.85")
69 mm or 2.71 inches Long
20 mm or 0.78 inches Batterypack Diameter
Weight including battery : 40 grams

Fenix P1D CE
Dimensions :
• 7.1cm (L) x 2.1cm (D) ( or 2.8 in (L) x 0.8 in (D) )
• 27-gram (or 1.0 oz) weight (excluding batteries)

Re: a NEW amilite CREE Q5

Let's see: a CR123A cell is ~17 grams, so the Amilite without the cell would weigh ~23 gms.

So, compared to a Fenix P1D-CE, the Amilite weighs less, it is shorter, and it has a smaller body diameter.

That sounds pretty good to me.
