well, I ordered some LED bulbs as per the Snakes in a Light thread to bring my own snake light back to life - and back to life it is!

so, pleased with my results, I started plugging the LED bulbs in other lights, when I came across my previous favorite light :)cool:), a Rayovac IND2D-B. I was disappointed when it wouldn't turn on, checked the batteries and bulb, all good, discovered the switch to be flakey (fairly common with budget priced lights).

So, I want to find a switch to repair my light - any sources or suggestions?

Also, I noticed while searching for the model of that light (surely you didn't think I knew it beforehand?) that it must not be available anymore; sure a few websites show it in stock, but none I'm familiar with.
Then, while perusing the man store - errr, Wal-Mart, that there was a familiar looking handle, but it was orange, not yellow - hmmm, it's Black and Decker, not Rayovac, but the exact same design and material, even the 3 stage spot-to-flood adjuster. On the back, distributed by Rayovac - interesting, wonder what kind of deal Rayovac and B&D have...

long story short, I want to repair my old Rayovac, any Yoda's out there with some advice?

no source for flashlight switches?

I can always wait til i have this cast off and rip a switch out of a cheap(er) flashlight, but I was hoping to hear some ideas...maybe a sealed rocker switch could be cool...just don't know where I'd find one

Radio Shack used to carry some switches, but I'm not sure if there's any of that left now. You might have better luck at an auto supply store. No reason those switches wouldn't work, too.

 why didn't I think of that???

Thanks!

Check out the warranty on the light listed here. Sounds like a "defect in materials and workmanship" to me.

Spectrum Brands (Rayovac's parent company) signed a deal to distribute lights under the Black and Decker label. Shortly thereafter, Spectrum Brands made a bid to purchase Russel Hobbs (Black and Decker's parent company). That deal should close in June.

wow, cool....now, if only I hadn't disassembled it after it quit working - darn my tinkering!

well, that explains it, explains quite a bit actually, and is good to know, thank you!
