Anyone have a good source for some decent low-cost CR123's? @ work I'm using a Browning Black Ice light that uses the 123's. I'm burning through about 2-3 pairs a week. At $10 a pop it can add up until my expense report checks come back.....

Thanks for any links!

1) Some Circuit City retail outlets have Duracell CR223 on sale for $1.97 each. One CR223 has 2x CR123 inside. That comes up to less than $1 per CR123.

I bought a couple. I cut and peeled the plastic jacket off, cut the small metal strip connecting the two batteries, then taped the metal sides of the naked CR123 to electrically insulate it.

Works really well on all my CR123 lights.

2) Best Buy has some retail outlets selling 2pk Duracell CR123 for $4.49 each pack. Comes up to about$ $2.24 per CR123.

3) Lowes sells Surefire branded CR123. A 2pk sells for $4.97. Comes up to $2.49 per CR123.

4) You could try rechargeables - "RCR123" if your light supports it. RCR123 have slightly higher voltage ratings.

You will save $$$ in the long run if you use rechargeables.

There are available online. I use AW RCR123 available from www.fenix-store.com

Hello Mighty Hd,

I believe the "freshest" cells available may be from BatteryStation. He just changed from having his cells made in China to having them made in the US. They test out well, and are reasonably priced.

Another source is fenix-store.com
It certainly feels great to get away from the $10.00 per pair price.

SUREFIRE SELLS THEM TO THE PUBLIC,$1.75 each, you buy enough you get free shipping.........

Thanks for the replies.

I found these @ the above link

Are the "battery station" CR123's a good/safe battery to use & get decent runtime?

Read comment #4 from SilverFox! :)

Fenix-Store is also a good source! Panasonic makes CR123A for SureFire, Energizer, Duracell, Rayovac, Streamlight and possibly some others.

If you buy 64 with the CPF8 coupon, you get them at $1.73 each!

Lighthound lists Energizer EL123 @ 1.75 each, with quantity discounts:

I also got some from Lighthound with an order I made from them to cover shipping cost of the other item. I suggest Rayovac, they are cheaper than Energizer and they are the same!

Comparison between SF/Rayovac/Panasonic cells made by chevrofreak in the Fenix P1:

Lighthound is and continues to be my source for cr123As
I typically buy streamlight but sometimes surefire also
haven't tried ray-o-vac but the graph looks pretty comvincing
:thanks: WildChild

I just noticed one thing... Rayovac CR123A seems to have the same datecode format as BatteryStation made in USA CR123A! AYJO my Rayovac cells (see the table at the bottom: http://www.batterystation.com/cpf1.htm).

Physically they all look the same:
They all have the hexagonal shape around the button top, the alignment of the hexagonal shape with the two vent holes is the same on almost all my cells (I found 1 exception):

They all have the same green disk around the negative side:

Datecode format is the same on SF and Panasonic cells. As I said, Rayovac format seems to be the same as BatteryStation made in USA.
