and a question or two.
Four 2D lights:
1
Dorcy Aluminum Pushbutton (Mag copy)
2 Garrity Aluminum PushB (Mag copy)
3 Maglite 2D
4 Rayovac 2D Swivel Head with dimpled reflector.
The Dorcy can't light it's way out of a wet paper bag. Tried various bulbs/batteries including the ones that work good (not great) in the Garrity and Mag. I think the reflector is much to blame. This light might be the best candidate for a LED PR2 bulb?
The Garrity is decent. It gets edged out a tiny bit by the Mag. It IS bulb sensitive in a way the Dorcy ain't EVEN.
The Mag is good with a small G. It throws a fair pattern out.
All three of the above have splotchy to SPLOTCHY!!! throws.
The sub $10 Rayovac... throws a nice white smooth pattern that's damn near as APPARENTLY bright as the HOTSPOTS on the others.
It is a FAR better general use light.
So. Should I try anything like a LED in the Dorcy or unload it at a garage sale? IF I get the LED, of course I will try it in the other lights (Not the Rayovac - I ain't touching nothing but batteries in that puppy!).
Lastly. Does anyone have a PR2 type LED bulb they could let me have cheap or borrow? The prospect of mailordering anything ain't too good right now. But a reasonable Money order could be had.
