The XR-E LE has a fully-regulated DB917 driver which runs on 2 CR123 or
2 R123.

Guys, if I want to use a smaller body, can this be run with a 1x123 setup.
Or can I use an Aleph 1.5X123 (1x17500) Power Pack ???

Just wondering and Thanks!!!!

It might run *close* to regulation with 1 Li-Ion depending on the Vf of the LED you end up with. So if the led Vf was very low and you're Li-Ion was freshly charged (~4.2v) then yeah. Other wise it goes into direct drive. A primary would be only 3volts to the led, so it wouldn't be at 917ma, but whatever the led pulls at 3volts. Should be between 100-200ma I'd guess. Still enough light to get around with and the runtime should be looooong! ;)
