I asked this question over in Wayne's forum as well, but thought I'd check here as well.

Looks like the Seoul based GDuPs are in and I am trying to find out if this combination of parts works on a McClickie pak (Ti or EN plated):

A19 Head
McR-19
GDuP LE (which is the ESCan + slightly different MCPCB, IIRC)

Will this combination allow me to screw the head all the way down on the McClickie Pak (with a battery in it) so that the o-rings of the Pak are covered?

Thanks!
Brian

You should have no problem screwing the head down to the o-rings as all of these parts were built to be lego'd, however the Aleph 19 was developed primary for use with Cree Leds. With that said, the McR 19 reflector is forgiving and may produce an ok beam with a seoul. Your best bet is to wait for Wayne to finish the Cree GDuP light engines and purchase one of those.

maxspeeds,

Thanks for the reply.

I wasn't sure if the overall height of the McR-19XR + XRCan was the same as the McR-19 + ESCan.

Regarding the McR-19 and Seoul combination, I kinda remember Don mentioning that though the beam was not optimized for max throw, it was a pretty decent performer. Still, I haven't seen any shots with that combination so I guess it is not a particularly popular combination.

The original McR-19 was designed around an older cree UV LED. The new XR-E package has its focal point further aft and hence the McR-19XR reflector and its derivatives were born. I can't recommend the Seoul coupled with the McR-19XR and I think it will be so so with the McR-19. a to stackheight of the various components, since I don't have a Seoul LE on hand, I can't really say. I leave it to those of you who have the right components to check these things out with.

I have also been asked in e-mails if the Seoul LE works OK in the Aleph Mule head. My guess would be yes but I think this needs to be confirmed as theLED might be pretty close to the window; this is a good thing provided it doesn't in fact contact the window.
