A2 LED\'s?

What colour of LED do you think is best with the A2? I was thinking of pre-ordering one...I don't want white, I'd like one which is good for low lighting, and doesn't damage my night vision much.

I was thinking green over red? What do you think?

PS-Is the incandescent part of the A2 a P60?

Re: A2 LED\'s?

I would go with red... based on info by A00079 in the L1 thread. No the incandescent part of the A2 is a new lamp not a p 60 not the mno3 either... it is 60 lumen.

Re: A2 LED\'s?

Kev... below is a copy of the L1 post I was referring to.

Depends on the LED colours you use.

The Red LEDs don't glare as the Photon Red does.
Blue is the brightest.
White is okay (I have an L1 so not much need for white)
Red is fantastic. I consider it real low lighting. Perfect for when you don't want to disrupt anyone around you (the driver beside you in a car) (or people sleeping in the same room)

It's a sneaking red light. I've not only appreciated the advantages of a low level of red light, but also, taken advantage of it many, many times now.

Until UV or Purple are made or mod'ed, I'm keeps the reds.

The "Digital" TailCaps do make a quiet sound when switching from low to high... Have to put it to your ear really to hear it.

Re: A2 LED\'s?

Just remember, first A2 released will be white. So if you get a "custom" color, it may be extra 3 or 4 month till you get it...

Re: A2 LED\'s?

Yep, red does sound good...if I have to wait another few months for it, then I think i'll wait before I order!

Re: A2 LED\'s?

As an alternative to waiting, you might want to get a white A2 and then get a red LED LA when they become available. I seem to recall PK stating on the old SFDB that the LED LS's would be made available seperately and the excange only requires the removal of three screws.

This is off topic but for those wh now have the L1, they can now imagine how the A2 functions. Instead of going from the light levels of say Arc AAA to KL1, You go from a NewBeam to a whiter version of the E2 beam. The L1 is an incredible tool but the A2 is even more amazing and breaks more new ground in the advancement of illumination tools; JMHO.

Re: A2 LED\'s?

Don,

I am sold (been sold for a while really). It was very difficult to appreciate what you were raving about with the A2 until I held and manipulated the L1. Truly a pleasure.

I hope to own a minimum of two A2's. One white on white the other colored on white (with various color LED assemblies). Now if only they would make them available in different HA III finishes for further distinction.

Cheers.
