Hi all,

Just checking in again with a quick question. Is the A2 low mode wider and floodier than the beam of an L2/L4? Thanks.,

batman,

Not really. But it doesn't have the same nice concentrated hotspot of the L2 or L4 so some might interpret this as being more "floody" than the L2. Instead of a smooth central hotspot, the A2 has three tiny hotspots in an overlaping type pattern, with lots of flood. Both L2 on low and A2 on low have very floody beams. The A2 low is dimmer than the L2 low, but not by a whole lot. The L2 low is much, MUCH more aesthetically pleasing, both in terms of smoothness and color artifacts and tint and so on. But the A2 low gets the job done. IIRC the A2 low runs for 25 hours, and the L2 low for 18.

If you can get your hands on an Aviatrix drop-in LED for the A2, then on high it will have a wider-than-stock flood. I can't really compare it to an L2/L4, but I did post a review that has comparison shots between a stock A2 and my Aviatrix in The Aviatrix: Output Measurements and Beamshots.

Thanks guys, that's very interesting. I ordered an Aviatrix a few months ago but since bawko moved I'm not sure when it will be delivered. I do look forward to it indeed.
