A2 Question

I am thinking of getting an A2 (white). I wish Surefire would sell a replacement LED heads so you could change out the color to LEDs you want. What color A2 do you have and what do you use your it for? Does anyone have a A2 Mod?

Get an Aviatrix - I have a White LED A2, and I use it for a wide variety of tasks - it's a great light!

I have one with white LEDs. Personally, I don't see the need for any other colors, even red. But if you want others, you can get Aviatrix rings in enough colors to have a different one for every day of the week. But when in doubt, go for white LEDs, as it's the most general purpose color.

I mostly use mine for walking the dog. The LEDs are sufficiently bright to see where I'm putting my feet and their wide and non-hotspotty beam pattern is ideal for this purpose, too. Every now and then I scan the path ahead with the incan beam to see if there are other people, dogs, or bicycles approaching us. The A2 is a great light for this kind of activity.

I have a white LED and it is just fine. I am finding that I am using around the house at night with leds only and this really saves on batt life (20 hrs). However when I need brighter all I do is press a litter harder and there is that nice bright incan.. LEDs are really nice when your eyes are
not ready for a blasting hotwire. Go ahead and get your self an A2 you'll Love it.. One more thing, My light is a new A2 and I am pleased enough with the leds that I am not going to try and improve them by buying a mod, but thats just me.

Thanks I feel an order coming. The Aviatrix sounds like the
Solution to my problem with the LEDs and you can add UV. Look like I have some reading to do. I always overlooked the A2 maybe because the incan did not seem so bright.

Optik, SF doesn't sell extra A2 heads or LED rings. The Aviatrix is a possibility, but Bawko is MIA, so don't hold your breath on that one.

Here's my thread reviewing all A2 LED colors (mods included). By next week I hope to have PoliceScannerMan's UV LED mod up as well.

I hope Atomic Chicken hasn't gone away. I sent him $47.00 for a 2-stage aviatrix about a month ago, and no word as to if he received my payment. I don't mind waiting, I just wish he would let me know if he got the payment ok... Anyway, I have a Blue A2 which I like vey much, but the blue can be difficult on the eyes after a bit. Great for camping with the combo floody led's/reg'd incan.

Illum, if you browse through PK's pic gallery, you'll see such a proto. It never made it into production from what we can see being offered.

That's great, Let us know what you think. However, I believe you will come to appreciate more over 2-3 weeks of use. You will start to see the

My A2 (white) arrived the other day but so did a Fenix P3D Q5 so I was a little blown away by Q5 is insane bright. Ok, back to the A2 I do like it. It's cool to see a beam made up of LEDs and incandescent. I would like to see it with red LEDS. I wish someone would pick up where Atomic Chicken left off and make some Aviatrix's. It's not the brightest but I have been using it for walking the dogs the LEDs work well on the walk. I use the incan to light up things at a distance. I love the SF knurling, it sticks to your hand.

Going to the OP's original question, I have a yellow green A2 and find it most useful for low keyed closeup illumination. Does not interfere with my night vision at all and is probably better than the red in my Kroma.
